Just a question for you tictac.. i dont use my NF7-s 2.0 anymore, but maybe i build a second computer later so, i have a question.. is there any option in the bios to disable/enable CPC, or is it always off in this bios?
anyway great stuff for AN-/NF7 owners.

wait why would you want CPC off, doesnt it give a hug performance boost?

can you see the light? is it shining too bright? can you see the light at the end of the tunnel, i know i do, i know its true.

CPC off is for Higher OC with dualsided RAMs, that means 512MB modules (some 256MB modules also).

Yeah, its this link for the AN7 - http://downloads.modlabs.net/bios/be...C18-R2-CPC.zip

But for some people disabling CPC gives a huge performance lost, so in some cases it wont be wort setting CPC off.. but iv'e seen some people not loose to much performance and could up the FSB about 30MHz more, and thats really good. but the best thing is if it works with CPC on.

That patch just changes the binary, right? Cause I always flash my BIOS with FlashMenu - as I don't have a floppy hooked up to this rig anymore ...

    edit:
Oh sorry, didn't notice that one of the links leads to the BIOS already.

CBROM if anyone needs it, i'll test this with the D23 3D-Fire BIOS http://www.biosmods.com/download/award/cbrom207.zip

    EDIT:

Once you run CBROM it output:

    ORIGINAL.TMP 42KB
    BIOS.ROM 1KB

So i'm guessing it just modified my original nf7d_23.bin file ?

Lots of dual sided ram wont go high CPC

    I use OCZ 3700 GOLD(2x256 rev1), and with CPC off I can do 255fsb 11-2-2-2-2.0 CPC enabled = 205 11-2-2-2-2.0 or 233 11-3-3-3-2.5 max clocks

Other people using 512mb sticks usually get worse results than that!

Good to see Abit users now have the freedom that DFI provides!
    Let the OC'ing begin!

This would be nice for those people who have locked chips. Higher fsb means more action on the core.

    hmmm

Well, it still needs something. It may be ME, my boards never liked the later bios's, they like D10. I really need a D10 with CPC mod to know if it does the job. I got higher than I had, but the general flakeyness I get with non-D10 still is there, clouding my ability to give a definitive result.

In the meantime, my BH5's are cooking nicely, one set is at 240Mhz, the other 245Mhz now....memtest#5 11,2,2,2,cas2.0,e,e,f,dis on DFI LPuB. Thats a 35Mhz increase in error-free and 3Dstability point.... amazing.

so i gave some testing to this new BIOS from TicTac and Pinczakko!
in few words - WORTH TRYING!!! not a huge gain, but gave me 5Mhz on FSB extra comparing to d23_3D Fire...

i tested two kits of Mushkin LvL II - 2x256 and 2x512.
memory sticks in DIMMS 2 and 3,
    CMOS cleared after each flash,
zero apps in tray and WinXP services reduced to absolute minimum,
benches run in same order for each BIOS and mem config: Sandra, 3DMark2001 and PiFast2.41,

    here's some results:

    D23_3d Fire - 2x512MB

    240x11
    --- Boot OK
    --- Sandra OK 96%/91% 3695/3491
    --- 3DM FAIL
    --- PiFast FAIL

    230x11
    --- 3DM FAIL

    227x11
    --- 3DM OK 13808
    --- PiFast OK 55.84s

    D24_R3_ED_CPC - 2x512MB

    240x11
    --- Boot OK
    --- Sandra OK 96%/91% 3700/3503
    --- 3DM FAIL
    --- PiFast OK 52.56s

    233x11
    --- 3DM FAIL

    232x11
    --- 3DM OK 14005
    --- PiFast OK 54.18

    230x11
    --- 3DM OK 13952

    D23_3d Fire - 2x256MB

    240x11
    --- Sandra OK 96%/90% 3690/3481
    --- 3DM OK 14121
    --- PiFast OK 53.01s

    D24_R3_ED_CPC - 2x256MB

    240x11
    --- Sandra OK 96%/90% 3705/3488
    --- 3DM OK 14221
    --- PiFast OK 52.50s

conclusion is that it new BIOS gave me extra 5mhz in 3DMark and made PiFast run @ 240FSB.
also, oddly enough, PiFast, 3dMark2001 and Sandra showed some improvements over d23_3D Fire with 2x512 as well as 2x256 kits.

even though it seems that this patch doesn't work the way it should it still changes something. so there's some more to do...

later i take a look at Prime95 stability...

great work TicTac, and greets to Pinczakko

yes, but the highest that gives me minimum stability (full run of 3dmark2001) is 246FSB with 2x256. and that's it, at least with 3.45vdimm... i can push it higher, to around 3.6v but then vdimm fluctuates as hell !

well, u see i also suspect that this may not be CPC, coz when i start WPCREDIT values at PCI Bus #0, Dev #0, Function #1 and offset 84-87 are "F3 13 0F 03" and not "F3 13 0F 23" as when DFI has CPC Off...

I flashed D24_R3_ED_CPC and did not get any fsb improvements. Still maxed out on 265.
    Good enough for me though
