heres the thing. I got asrock x58 extreme 3 with i7 930 and the temp are way to high.tried 3 times puting on the thermal paste.
currently 21*191 @ 1.344V idle 46C, load 81C.w
what could the problem be?I used the splitter the connect both vents into one fan power plug.is there any difference in which one I plug it into?
where do I check the vent speed and at what rpm should it be?

You would have to plug them into a header separately that can read both rpm. I wouldn't use a northbridge fan header just in case. I used one for a regular fan and it was super slow. I had to plug the fan into my molex for the correct rpm.
The 14cm should be about 1300rpm iirc and the 12 should be about 1400 rpm.
At least I think that is what mine are running at. Make sure the cpu header you are using to control the fans are making them spin up based on heat in case or if you are using a pwn controller than that may be your problem if the fans aren't running at full speed.
Are you using the ULNA for them by chance?

If you have the fans plugged into a 4pin adapter on the mobo then that is usally a pwn controller I believe. Then depending on the settings in your mobo bios, you can probably allow the fan to spin based on a certain temp or full speed all the time. Certain boards will allow this and some won't.

Sorry if this has been posted but noctua are releasing a new cooler based on the DH14 but smaller so people with heatsinks on their ram can use one.

Just an observation, but having lapped my nh-d14 for my own crazy reasons, I have observed the following:
Pre-lap, the thing did an outstanding job of spreading shin-etsu x23-7783D using the "grain of rice" method. I used a tiny amount and it worked like a charm spreading the TIM on a lapped x4-635.
During the lap, I found it damned near impossible to get the thing totally flat. The curve is hard to work out of the metal . . . or at least, it was for me. Though I was successful in removing the nickel coating, it still has the curve I think (albeit a more muted curve).
After the lap, I have only used the nh-d14 with Liquid Metal Ultra. In fact, it is because of the Ultra that I lapped the HSF. Nevertheless, it fares extremely well so long as I brush very thin layers of Ultra on both the HSF base and the IHS. It is quite possible that the lapped nh-d14 would not do so well with x23 anymore, but my x23 is officially retired so I don't mind so much.
I think it's universal for it to be air from right push to left... down to up causes potential hotspots.

He is talking about his top exhaust fan on the case. Look above the ram and CPU and you'll see a couple of 120mm fans. And guilleguillaume, even though his exhaust fans are helping to remove heat from the ram area, its not the most effective method for ram. It does help, but its more of an overall exhaust and the ram are still gets pretty hot. But the ramsinks he is using along with the good exhaust system are way more than enough for regular use and even some mild OC'ing of his ram. So no worries about the heat in that area unless he really plans to push that ram. Besides, if he really feelt concerned, then he could just grab a $15 ram cooler to solve the problem. I dont think he needs it though.

That thing is scary looking. Do likeI really like Noctua's stuff, I'm quite fond of the NH-D12. On air I had a very similar airflow setup and it worked great without any worrying hot spots. I did use my Corsair airflow fan but it was a tight fit. To be honest, I don't know if it was even needed but I used it anyways.

Yeaaah, but with exhaust ports, it isn't as simple as an arrow... because the pull is very spread out and weak. Plus, I like being able to read noctua from left to right without tilting my head.

Anyway they look much better than th brown Noctuas and match with your Enermax magma. It's nice that the same serie of fans have the 120mm and the 140mm one.

What model is the 140mm fan? It is nice that we have four choices of 140mm fan - Noctua P14, Scythe Kaze Maru and Scythe Kaze Maru 2. The KM2 cannot be used with Noctua clips, and the KM must have its ears filed down to work with Noctua clips.
