Okay, this is getting a bit ridiculous... GTSR Boy's post has been quoted not one or two times, but seven. Is that really necessary?

Although I agree for the most part with what you guys said in response to his post, you do have to give Apple credit for putting everything together in an attractive platform and in such a way that hadn't ever been truly done before. Essentially Apple combined the best of the best, with just a couple original ideas here and there, and assembled in a lucrative form factor. It was and is very easy to use, and therefore attracts the masses. GTSR Boy is also right on the money that Apple is in fact just protecting its patents, which it has the right do so. (Though it is laughable that they would file such ridiculous patents, the hand gesture patent is especially ridiculous.)

WRONG, apple is trying desperately to crush htc before it completely takes over its market. HTC is the only manufacture out right now thats gaining enough momentum to plow right through apple and it scares them and thats why they are only going after htc. Apple likes to patent wildly outrageous things that should never be granted a patent in order to suppress all competition. It has nothing to do with protecting some tech that apple toiled over in R&D, its apples way of legally running a monopoly in the smartphone market.

I disagree. They're just doing it for the publicity, and to fuel the Apple fundamentalists with a stronger sense of belief that Apple created everything.

Now if only Nokia had patented integrated camera phones, and LG had patented touch screen phones, and Samsung had patented MP3 player phones .....

If Apple can go back and patent old tech, those companies should be able to patent their tech as well. If they were successful I could only imagine the hit apple would take. Lets see how many iphones sold using those 4 techs?

OTOH I am very glad that apple created a way to unlock my phone. Without that, I would have to just turn it off every time I put it in my pocket. Also, I didnt see mention of powering down the CPU of a mobile device specifically so wouldnt this be the same as C1E or whatever its called in my bios options on my desktop? Whoever invented that should be able to repel that patent.

The funniest thing that I found was back when I got an LG Arena KM900 (Just sold it and got a Chocolate BL20 because I need a phone with buttons), every apple fan was attacking LG for copying the Iphone .....
