Wish I had had a chance to meet him when I dropped off the cascade with Movieman. Feels like it was last week, hope everything is better now for him. Hope his daughter makes it through this fine, losing a parent cannot be easy.

Yes I feared this when I didn't see him on msn any longer as I know he was connected at the hospital and stayed in touch... I knew it had to have happened to but didn't even want to think about it as it just breaks my heart as he loved his daughter SO MUCH and was at peace with his situation but was just tore up for what it meant for Annabelle in the end. I know he loved XS and made a lot of friends here and SO many here and at TPU were so generous to him, TPU taking up a collection for him which brought him to tears and the time I was talking to him and he had gotten a gift certificate from a New Enlgander to a local grocery store chain and he was just overwhelmed that he was being so well thought of and essentially loved for which he was very grateful. I will miss talking to him for hours and I regret never meeting you Jon but I hope that your daughter carries on your passion for life the way you did.

I'm sorry for going on and on but when it comes to Jon I don't think I can recall ANYTHING bad about the guy, he was always nice and helpful, and when it came to the end he wasn't concerned with himself only his daughter. I and I think everyone will miss you and I know I am better off for the time that we got to learn, talk, and have insight into you.

Rest In Peace my friend, you will be missed

    -Ryan

I really admired the fact that he didn't let his head hang low, but kept on a good spirit. Despite the fact that he knew the end was coming. I can only hope that I can show the same spirit someday when my time is up.

Best of luck to his little kid. RIP Loonym.

    ^^What TGE said, plus one....

I posted up at TPU here, taking full liberty in copying Dave's post. I hope you don't mind me doing that.

Loony (my name for him) was something really special. The grace he showed in the face of the reality he had was what blew me away. His posts are incredible. All of them, the serious posts, and the funny ones. I highly suggest a search on the user name Loonym for those who say they do not know him well. The essence of the man is there in his posts. He was no different in one-on-one PMs.

If there really is a Heaven, he should be there. If not, then I know I've gone to the wrong place...

If there is no heaven, I would challenge all of us to remember him, and carry on his legacy of grace and dedication.

I have one nagging question, is his daughter taken care of? If not, Please let us know her situation. I had thought that her mother was gone also. I don't quite know the situation, I see in the obit that his father is still around, with other family.

Before I dedicate another set of rigs to Loony, if that money would be better spent on other needs, I need to know.....Rack # 3 is already in the garage....Part of the rig cleanup I advertised in another post, questioning my limit to how many rigs I run....that question has been answered. Look out Fallwind!

And so it goes, Thanks Loonym, for all you have given us....

    Sincere Regards,
    Bob

it was actually the conversation I had with him, he told me that things had been arranged for Annabelle... I am glad for the fact he had time to think about arrangements... but I could read between the lines, he wasn't happy as that meant he wouldn't be with her and she would be without him which was inevitably going to happen. I hope she is well as I know she was the light of his life and he always LOVED to talk about her.

I really hope that we can get more people to crunch, as he was an advocate for it and a true example of what WCG/ others are crunching for.

    That's really shocking news

I didn't hear anything from him last month (he was not on IRC anymore) so I knew he wasn't feeling good. He was in a lot of pain.

I'll always remember Jon as a great and helpful guy , and a great loving father.

I'm gonna put another rig online in remembrance of Loony.

Only this morning I read an older one of his messages from 10/27/09 in the thread "France passes 3-strikes law against filesharers." Left me in stitches. Although this news has left me in a much more somber mood. He had a very good heart. RIP

This is really sad news, while i didnt know him or even get the chance to speak to him i can see from any of his posts that he was a down to earth chap and HIGHLY respected.

RIP dude and fair play for sorting things out before this happened, it takes someone special to put someone else first and make sure they will be looked after while in pain yourself!

I'm at a loss on what to say but I am very upset that Jon has passed we spoke many times on MSN when he was having trouble sleeping and it was daylight hours here. We talked about lots of stuff and I am very sad that I did not get the chance to meet him in person but being touched by such a person has changed my look on life even more, you could tell he was doing it tough but he still remained upbeat and you knew he would be giving it all for his daughter.

You will be missed mate. Rest in Peace and you will not be forgotten.

Your long distance MSN mate Justin.

How sad. Jon was a great guy and always had my complete respect. I'm glad he decided to spend so much time doing the simple things with his daughter and family the past year or so. A true inspiration. God Speed.

Why man, why? I mean I knew this was coming as well as his health conditions were really bad, but dammit! This guy was just an amazing individual. I was part of that fund TPU raised for him a while back, but this time around I really don't know if I can send anything. My condolences go out to his family and I hope this really fires some people up when it comes to crunching/folding. This is truly a sad moment for me as well as I really appreciated what this amazing human being was doing, and who he was. I can honestly say my day is done! I feel like crying.

Just for your reference, here are the threads of the little fund raise we did for him, wasn't much but sure it helped.
