Damn, this board makes it tempting to finally make the leap to I7. Seems like a great board, punching loads of useful features as SATA 3 and USB 3. Must....resist....!

I really like the software features Gigabyte throws in there too. That Smart6 thing or whatever

You mean the software to tune bios settings from within windows? Yeah, seems great. Would be very nice to do most of the tuning from within windows, saving loads of time on rebooting all the time.

theres Gigabytes link. I like the Smart Quickboot and the Smart Quickboost the best, but the other things look handy.

I'm assuming the revised chipset is the Rev B3 (or rev 13) chip which many past models with a recent manufacturing date already have. Any word on when we can expect other x58a boards?

Thanks, I'm aware of that Asus board. Though I was referring to Gigabyte's other x58a offerings. Apparently, Asus didn't implement the turbo throttling in that new board. If that's true, I may try out this board as it seems to be available for quite a bit cheaper than the UD7.

I have confirmed the new UD7 does indeed have the revised chipset (X58 B3 Stepping).

The new UD7 has the "333" features, Smart6, Some new buttons, a revised Hybride Heatpipe, socket changes, PCIE Mod is already done at the factory so no hard mod is needed, and the revised chipset.

More info can be found here
    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...ProductID=3251

Other models all I can say is be patient.

I'm tempted to order one but I can't find any info about the watercooling fittings ?
Do they use e.g. 1/4" standard ones now or still some uncommon ones ?
(I am using 8/10 tubing with mostly 1/4" fittings as you can guess)

    From Manual:
For the waterblocks on the North Bridge heatsink, we recommend tubes with inner diameter of 7.5mm and outer diameter of 10mm. After connecting the tubes, make sure that the tubes are attached to the waterblocks securely and tightly and there is no leak.

The current UD5's also have this revised chipset to, the boards are still rev.1, but the way you can tell the difference from the old ones and the new ones is the last PCIE slot on the newer boards is the same blue color as the first 2 PCIE slots, whereas on the older UD5's the last PCIE slot os orange.

MIPS make a really nice replacement waterblock for these boards that allow you to use normal fittings.

Well, it was made for the old Extreme, but they look as though they have the same cooling solutions, so I would image that this block would fit the UD7.

Wow, that is quite the "premium" price markup there, for a revised chipset, and a new cooler....

    Thanks too for the information.
I am going to try the original block first using Teflon & Screw Hose Clamps to fit my 8/10 tubing. First time I won't use metal manual connectors... /crossing fingers.

Well, can't resist and I have the opportunity to get a 3835 batch i7 920 at this moment (supposedly 4.5Ghz 24h/day if not better).
Just some rams for this naughty board. Probably GSkill Trident.
Ordering all that tomorrow. And let's watercool the ATI 5870 at the same time :p.
    Wish me luck

I'v got my UD7 last night, testing it now. LLC now has 3 modes, Standard, Level 1 and Level 2. Standard equals the old "off", Level 1 equals the old "on", and Level 2 gives you higher vcore on load. Testing with 1,4v set in bios @4.6 gives 1.376v-1.392v cpu-z idle, and 1.408v - 1.424v cpu-z load. Very happy that they made this third option available.

The socket has casing from Lotes, suspects foxcon for the rest, but not sure.

The bios that came with the mb was F2, and seems very good.

Max bclk I'v managed so far was 21x236 with pifast bench (on water). Forgot to include the cpu-z Mainboard flap, sry.

    Testing more ...

Not sure what you mean by tripple check, but its the same boot sequence/time as on ud5/extreme.

I agree. I just ordered mine from the egg to be here tuesday. It's gonna be hard to beat this classified, but at least i have some good numbers to compare. I like the small things about this board. The extra USB voltage should be nice. My G19's LCD doesnt like a 5ft extension. My last gigabyte (EP45 UD3P) was i think my favorite board ever. Gigabyte has sure stepped it up lately in my book.
