    Howdy,

I tried again for 4ghz on air and I had no luck, I can bench up to 4.1 on air kinda easy, with 2600-2800 NB, but 4ghz stable is not going to happen for me at least not on win 7 64. What I am able to do is 3.9ghz 100% stable @1.45v under air. Now When I added my water setup, even before trying to chill it, I can do 4ghz easy. bring the temp down to the 20*C rang at idle and 36*C load, I can do 4.3ghz stable. You might have a chip that will be awsome under xtreme cooling. Which is what I think mine might be. Good luck, hope you can eak out a little more.

I think that Titan7171's 3Dmark06 cpu score is low.
I don't see a Nb speed in the pic, but it's it's a 2.6ghz it's holding back the cores, might want to try same bench again with it at 3.0ghz NB/3.1ghzNB/3.2ghz.

It prolly is but I only had 2 bags of ice and there was hella rebooting and setting up plus a couple switches on the os.........so I really didnt get to get a great score on the cpu in any one test. plus Im on an older mobo the cpu score is in line with what Ive gotten before as a cpu score, in other words my 4.3ghz run gave me a cpu score of 5960 or somewhere there.

Also I was more concentrating on getting the tests finished at certain cpu speed NB was secondary on my mind so I did leave it at 2.6ghz but the main reason is I had gone for a run with cpu at 4.5ghz and nb at 3ghz (it didnt finish)when the system rebooted I lowered the nb to 2.8ghz to see if it would complete at 4.5ghz but it didnt I then did one last drop to 2.6ghz nb and it also didnt complete 3dm06 at 4.5ghz so I then just dropped the multi and went with 4.4ghz nb at 2.6ghz as ice was melting and I still had to do my 30 minutes of prime

    Thanks charged.

I'm already on ambient water, albeit with dated equipment (see sig - the cpu block is so old that I had to fab an adapter from an old computer case ) and the GPU in the loop. I wonder if I'd see much improvement from newer blocks and 1/2 ID. 3840 @ 1.425v with 2640nb @ 1.225v gives me 43.5 C under load after .5 hr blend, and 29 C idle 5 min later. Ambient is around 18C, but the woodstove isn't lit yet.

If I ran hoses to the garage the wife would freak, and I'm going more for self contained daily driver/gaming rig anyway. I'd be tempted to slip a pelt under the waterblock, but I don't like how much heat they generate to make one side cold.

I'll keep working on it, and look forward to seeing your extreme progress

whats up buddy, can I suggest removing those 2x1gb of memory and only going with the other 2x2gb.......maybe having all 4 dimms filled is making the problem at those high speeds? (If you havent removed it already)

Yeah, I thought about it . I am looking for a more 24/7 use on that side, But I will be running only 2 dimms in the whites slots when I get my water chilled setup finalized. Thanks for the input though. I might do it for kicks any how.

    Update

At stock settings for everythings else, I've got 3.9 stable for .5 hour blend @ 1.4875v.

At 1.55v it lasts about 40 seconds at 4018 ghz, and about 12 min at 4000.xx.

I'm giving up on 4 ghz, at least without more extreme cooling I'll dial in something that balances cpunb and cpu, and extracts the most from my ram. Currently testing 3850 with 2750 nb and 1666 c7.

Did you boot straight from the bios at 4.2ghz 1.35v? or did you boot to windows stock and then change the speed in AOD??

"it's one core in aod up there ?"

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

i noticed that too, my 965BE (c2) will run up to 4.1gig max set via the bios (max it will boot to windows), however, once in winders, AOD can make your CPU look like a star, I can actually jack my vcore to 1.55, set the x to 21.5 all four cores, and it will run long enough for me to verify a CPU-z check for frequency @4.3, and then I back it down and let the bios take over again....never tried just one core......

    interesting none the least....

    laterzzzz...........

Yeah it's possible to use different multipliers for each of the cores .The bad thing is that there is only one voltage regulator for all the cores internally(Griffin mobile X2s @ 65nm had 3: two for two cores and one for NB).
I think AMD will "remedy" this in bulldozer where each module will have one of those for independent clocking of the cores inside the same module.

yea, I dont think Ive ever ran an overclock with mutis at different settings........my overclocks are either all cores do the speed or none. I wont set cores at different speeds.

4500 IMC is just unbelievable! How about some Cinebench, WPrime and WinRAR at those clocks?

Just a normal human being here Did not really test anything for stability, its a bencher. On air (thermalright True) the CPU does Cinebench R10 at 4000mhz with 1,45vcore and about 3000 NB freq. The cold helps the NB freq a lot thats why 4500 was possible.
