3dm06 - same story, but four GPU tests.

LOD helps a lot in 3dm03, don't know about '05.
    ok i'm verifying the os

    for single/dual card
    1. aquamark - xp....this is what i use...its fastest for sure..look at stummerwinter's world record..he's using xp

    2. 3d06 - xp..this is what i used...and andreyang uses this..check his world record.

    3. 3dmark05......here its vista??? stummerwinter's single card world record is using vista....andreyang is also using vista.....i need to redo my stuff here..

    4. 3dmark03...here its windows7...kingpin uses win7

    5. 3d01.....here vivi uses xp......world record holder for single card...

    vantage...,,,,welll you know the os...

    also for superpi....i use xp...

wprime is more vista...some say its got better memory management...

hope this helps with u guys...

Unfortunately, for the time being I will have to bench with W7. My second HD is off to be replaced and I use this computer for other things so dual booting isn't an option right now due to space. What I will do is setup an XP disk with the benches you guys recommended for it and do those. I don't have the dedicated time for benching, so these time saving tips are extremely helpful. Thanks guys for all the advice and help. Tomorrow should be a at least 6 hours dedicated to messing with maxing my overclock and doing some benches.

LOD settings are card specific. Sometimes VERY high LOD settings will loosen the load on the GPU and let you run higher clocks although run less efficiently. LOD is a game of trial and error, be prepared to sit there a few hours tweaking it.

3d benching, what i have observed on AMD platforms.

    Single card 03-06 XP.

Dual card is a tossup between xp and vista.....its a catch 22 higher cpu score in xp, higher gpu is vista.

3-4 gpu configs....vista hands down except for 03, I have found win 7 to be 500 points slower in 06 and slower in 05. Do not use 4 cards for 05 it scores worse.

    LOD...is card dependant.

03 an 05 is straight forward.......06 and vantage you will need to rename the exe....try renaming to 3d05.exe for starters

There are other things all the exe's can be renamed to to give a slight boost in fps and allow LOD .

Last but not least with ATI and multicard BIGGER clocks are not always better. There is a sweet spot, play with gt's individually and work your way up with clocks speed, you will find the sweet spot, this is also bench dependant.

Lets just say it's card dependant but with ATI 1200/1200 is not necessarily faster than say 1045/1065 on a 4890 for instance. It's not about clock speed necessarily it's about what combination boosts your GT's the most

You need only pay attention to GT's that are most heavily impacted by GPU power.

Total system tuning will net you the gains you need in system biased GT's.

    Give it a shot.

You don't need a bloated program like riva if all your doing is setting lod with it, just use SetLODB6

I'm obviously not going to post what LOD settings to use publicly.

Those running 01 ( which I don't bother with much anymore ) I can offer a simple tweak.

NOTE PM's from non XS team members will be ignored.

As far as nvidia it's my achilles heel, I have not used one since FX 5XXX series so other than a ballpark for LOD I can't help ya much.

Last but not least I don't condone LOD as just about any game with anticheat will kick you for it.......a cheat is a cheat however just about everyone uses it, sort of would you jump off a cliff if this guy does......but thats another discussion best discussed in another thread.

LOD doesnt get you kicked or banned in any game I played (any Source game, UT3, Quake 3).

RivaTuner can only set LOD on Nvidia video cards, which is a shame, because with SetLOD you can only choose integer values, and Rivatuner can adjust LOD up to one decimal place. And remember to run SetLOD as admin on Vista/7.

Great, been waiting like 1.5months for my dewar from germany, and it arrived to day.
Safe to say i was not amused when i saw the inside

buyer showed me pic of it being intact, so during transport prolly someone dropped it,
or what ever, must have been hard atleast, cant amagine it breaks easily, and its all around, so must have been severe.

So i need to start looking for another one, argh

On the upside, received my XFX HD5770 + New HDD,
and hopefully friday / saturday my W3540, which is quite a capable thing !

Ok, so I ran into a slight setback, my phase got too hot and I had to shut it off. I was trying to stabilize my overclock and after about an hour it was just too much for it. I will try some more tonight with the 920 before I swap it out with the 975. Really want to see what I can do with it first.

Bios? no, to be honest that score was not pushed at all. Yotomeczek and me were just testing a motherboard. I don't have four 4890s any more, and I don't have three or four 5870s (yet) so I can't really improve on that score now.

I really need to get used to methodical testing and benching - too often I would run two 3DMarks on one setup when there is four to get points for.
