I've had this issue for a while now that the comp randomly powers off during login attempt when booting into Windows 7, I'd say it's about a 50/50 chance for it to happen. In rare cases it can happen while playing some game too and I'm not sure if it's gamespecific prob of any kind but I saw some other people with this similiar issue and he said it was worse for Steam games and TF2 etc. Anyway that might happen like once a week at tops even if playing for 3-4hrs straight and no notice of errors when booting into Windows after that. It works just fine when I manage to login and LinX runs fine for a while at least and also MemTest.

I don't get any minidumps but event log logs these "critical" issues "Kernel Power" EventID: 41 and sometimes I get the bugcheck code 292 but most often not.

Then in device manager I have this "unknown device" with the exclamation mark and it says the drivers aren't installed. Then when I click on it for details at location it says "Intel(R) P55 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B02". Now I've tried lots of times installing the intel inf chipset drivers both the drivers included on the CD and the latest from intel homepage but no matter how many times I do it, the exclamation mark still stays for this device.

The above might very well be related to the problem I'm having but how to fix it is a good question. I'm pretty sure this has to be a driver conflict of some kind. What seems to be a problem is that the chipset drivers are already installed as I install Windows 7 and it seems to think these are the latest ones and installing the latest from intel's homepage won't be applied. Is there anyway to remove the chipset drivers? :p

Try this, look up this (hope it's not the case, though).

Also I'd say do PSU test using OCCT.
Seems to be a wide spread program. Google for it. Most people have issues with Realtek drivers, can't be the case for you, though. Perhaps crappy Creative ones then. Some also have faulty PSUs, RAM, HDDs, video cards, etc...

Also, regarding chipset drivers... use driver rollback option? From the device manager.

PSU test doesn't cause any errors (useful test tho that I haven't used) and can't do a rollback as these drivers were preinstalled by the OS itself and driver version is 6.1.7600.16385 (ie same as the build number) which causes probs if trying to install the ones from intel I suppose. I will however try updating nvidia driver, using 182.47 which worked fine for me in Windows 7 RC1 tho but who knows if there's issues with the RTM version.

I'm using kX audio drivers for my audigy card but these also worked just fine in RC1. Then for realtek drivers there's like 3 options as far as the source goes, MS update, Gigabyte and Realtek itself and I've tried 2 different ones (from MS and realtek). :p

On Win XP that Intel(R) P55 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B02 is installed just fine.

EDIT: and yes it also happens at stock settings trying to load win 7.

EDIT: Well I managed to force the intel inf to be installed by running from command prompt with "-overall" switch but the old unknown device is persistant and is still there altho the device appears in the installed system devices list as well with the exact same name etc so at least there's some drivers installed for it now.

Also installed 191.07 nvidia drivers and it may have helped too. And I also swapped EVGA precision for RivaTuner. Then I've been having problems with AERO disabling when running a game but now it works after doing a "diagnostics" under the page u select theme on the bottom and it found that WDM service wasn't running and aero runs still after quitting from a game so that's nice.
So far so good but only done like 5 restarts but how often it happened b4 that, 5 successful logins is very promissing.

atleast i am not alone. i get the same error event ID 41 i do not get it if i am not OC'ing ( thoe i have had one BSOD ) at stock i get the same issues useing XP or WIN7. i have a new MB, GPU, and cpu. still keeps crashing at random event ID 41. i have run memtest. windows mem-tester. and i am just perplexed : ( tryed OCCT psu test looks as if all is well but when i oc the chip it freezes and i do not get a graph to compare with. i am thinking it could be the psu but when not ocing it is stable. power is strait as an arrow. HELP !!!! lol...

Do you have a seperate sound card installed?

It may not be related to what you're seeing, but I was getting some conflicts with my sound-blaster card and the built-in sound chips on the motherboard. Even going into the device manager and disabling the on-board sound drivers didn't help. But going into the BIOS and directly disabling the on-board sound from there cleared it up.

May not be your issue, but it's something to consider if you are using a seperate sound card.

well i know it is not heat. i was thinking bad psu but i have been useing hardware monitor and just latly like in the past 3 days tryed the OCCT power supply test and it does not show me any dips in power or overvolts that i can tell but when i get a freeze ( the sign of the issue ) it does not create any log's for me to read. i am totaly stumper, i do know that it haz to be ither the psu or ram. i just don't want to buy a psu just to find out that it is the ram or the other way around, on a side note it runs perfict wghen the cpu is not oc'ed

Bad RAM wouldn't caused instant shutdowns. Reboots and hangups yes, but thats it.

I'd like to know how you know it is not heat? It could be things heating up on the CPU or the motherboard.

everything is water cooled except the GPU all temps seem to be ok, and i use an Antec 900 airflow is great and i have a dual loop W/C system and all are running with a push pull. and everything was just fine till one day i sat down as it was idle and i got a BSOD ever sence then it will not oc and i have changed the board(but is same kind) i have changed the gpu and the cpu

Edit : i do not get shutdowns. i get hangs and BSOD, i am leaning twords it being the ram, but every test i do on the ram comes out clean. so i am completely confused : (

I had the same problem today i downgraded from windows 7 to windows xp and i got the same issue i was looking in google for some solutions and it take me here but i had luck and quickly solved this problem with ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY

Oh, people are still posting in this thread.

In my case as strange as it sounds, it was gfx card causing these reboots during startup of Windows 7 in the login phase. It turned out the EVGA GTX 260 SC was getting more and more unstable at the clocks and in the end it wouldn't even work at stock clocks and got worse on a daily basis. I wouldn't have thought gfx card would be able to do something like this if it still ran games fine at the time but could cause reboots during startup.
