Another small update.

Seems the HK is getting dropped for the Swiftech XT. The socket 1156 mounting kit didn't make it in with Gary's order. I ordered it from CrazyPCs, a local shop for me, so I should be to pick it up in the morning and include it in some photos this weekend.

I think so too. He didn't have his case linked in his sig though. It requires a hole to be cut to mount it internally. I'll take some photos of it when I tear it down this weekend.

Thanks liguhy. It is only about a degree better than the HK. I'm getting it because I couldn't find the mounting kit for the HK to convert it over to socket 1156. Seeing I was stock with getting a new block, decided to go back to Swiftech. ( I probably could have tried modding it, but I don't really have the tools to do that here.)

I'm pretty certain I have the second Core I5 build log here and IIRC The Rooster got an Asus board. So I may be the first P55 FTW build log. Not a big deal though.

Update Time!

I picked up the Swiftech XT from CrazyPC yesterday and it is a great looking block. Gabe has decided to slot the hold down plate so that the only thing you will have to change is the backplate when moving through the different socket designs. Nice touch.

The photos really don't do this thing justice. It is a great looking block. The adjustable inlet is also a nice touch. You can see why the temps are less in alt config though as it is a bit more restrictive. Two 45s seem to fit fine though, so that is what I will probably end up doing.

Lets see what we can do for some photos.

The only nice thing about Fall here in MI. The trees start turning and it is really pretty. As you can see it not a great day here today though.
I guess it gives me an excuse to stay in and work on the build.



I don't have the backplate yet. It will probably be here Monday though. So the block is just sitting there. I also got a better shot of that board too.



That XT is a nice looking block. I really like it.

Well, I will be finishing the tear down of the Cosmos 1000 this weekend. I seem to have found a place that is a bit closer to me for powdercoating. I have to talk to them on Monday.

I'll also be working on the sleeving of that Corsair PSU.

Well, I got the case stripped down. I'll be cutting the hole tomorrow as it decided to start raining here.

Here is a quick photo of the hole that was cut in the top section of the Cosmos 1000 to mount the MCR320-QP.

Thanks, yea that is my little buddy. He loves it outside. I had to stop putting feed in the feeder over summer as the squirrels kept getting on the balcony and stealing it.

Yea, I was wanting to keep my HK, but the more that I look at this block, the happier I am with it. It really is a great looking block and the new mounting mechanism should be pretty much upgrade proof. You'll just need new backplates.

I just had to order up some extra sleeving from Nils the other night and the PSU is almost ready for its sleeving. Still a few more pins to pull.

He is an old boy. I think he is almost 10 yrs old. My mom brought him home for me from the Vet. He was one of those that got abandoned and thought the Vet was a good place to hang out. He doesn't think that anymore.

He is a great cat though. Good luck on finding one of your own.

Just to prove I haven't been slacking this weekend.

Here are a couple of mockups of the bottom Swiftech MCR220-QP with and without the Gentle Typhoon 1850s

And here are the panels getting ready for powdercoating. They still need to be cleaned, but its pretty much ready.



I hope to have powdercoated next week, and ready for reassembly next weekend.

Excellent work their Miller, looks like you and your helper are right on track for another sweet build.
I love your photo of the trees in fall.
The one thing about OZ is, it can move from one season to another and the native landscape only goes from green to brown and back to green. It lacks the vibrant colours that you have there.
However if you keep on taking photos, like we do in our house, then you will need to buy another hard drive to store them all in.
Keep it up, it's an excellent pastime and after a while your perspective of your surrounding will change, you could say they will come into focus.
