It's invaluable, if you're having problems with something people can see instantly what hardware you are using (and operating system, hopefully). How many times have you seen on this or another forum a problem or complaint, then reply #1 "can you tell us what hardware you're using and operating system?"

    +1...

The quality of answers you receive in the net, is directly related to others knowing your system specs.

The button they have at the Rage3D forums that has rig specs in a drop down is pretty cool.

I've had signatures hidden in profile option for years now.
I have no need to list my rig in every post, cause I hardly ever discuss it. And I really have no interested in what parts people have in their systems, how many computers or folding points they have, etc. And I don't think it's practical to have system specs in signature at all - many forums have a clickable "system specs" dropdown list on the left, below the avatar. Works great for those interested, and is not annoying at all to those not interested.

I'd prefer signatures were just, signatures, restricted to 2-3 lines of text only at size=1 and non-intrusive font colors.

na I hate those - they usually disappear of my monitor, then when I scroll to see the rest it stops 'dropping down'
