Yeah, I've been thinking of getting an SSD, but can't decide if I want to wait for the next generation or not. Would be nice to have one for the boot drive, that's for sure.

Driver Cleaner used to be free, but they charge $9 dollars for it now. I figure if they keep it updated, it's worth supporting them for it. It's worked pretty well for me.

Those temps are pretty good for stock cooling, especially on the NB! I've got a pretty high end air cooling setup and my NB gets to 53-54C on warmer days.

Well yeah sometimes it gets a little hot but I just put higher speed on the fan controller to keep it cool.

If any SSD drive is worth right now, it would be the Vertex, thats only if you have the money. Or the Intel G2 if you dont mind having less space for more performance.

Think I'm going to shell out for the Vertex before W7 comes out and use it as my boot drive.

    Need some help!

    Using e8400. Kingston HyperX 4GB 1800MHz 2GB x 2, CL 8-8-8-24, KHX14400D3K2/4G

Memory timings 9-9-924. 2T rest on auto.
mem volt is supposed to be operated at 1.9v. running it at 1.98 in bios. doesnt overvolt that much, bios says about 2.0v

its running at 1800fsb linked and synced now, but its not stable. memory seems to be stable in memtest. havent run it for verry long. but cpu stress test fails so im assuming thats the error.
using 8x multiplier. my goal is to alteast have it stable at 3600mhz. maybe clock it more later.
using a zalman (CNPS9500ALED) cpu cooler. cpu and cooler is lapped. reapplied thermal paste to the stock cooling system on the s2e.

cpu 1.375v bios shows 1.42v in the voltage monitor section.
    loadline enabled
    cpu pll 1.60v
    cpu vtt 1.36v
    nb 1.52v

havent got windows running so cant check the load temps. but now idling in bios. temps:

cpu seems stable around 34c. which i think is verry nice.
NB 55c. too high?? ( i know im running a little high volt on it. but system wouldnt boot if it wasnt atleast 1.52v)
SB 56c also verry high i think.
memory is about 48c, using one of the opt temp sensors on it.

can anyone please tell me what i should use on GTL?
should i be worried about the temps on the nb? ive read around and apparently im not the only one with high temps here..

    my calculation on gtl
    1.36v x 0.635 = 0,8636
    1.36v x 0.667 = 0,90712

    0.8636v - 0.9071v = -0.0435v

about -45mV. should this be applied to ref0 and ref1 ?
how do i calculate the NB gtl_ref ?

    1) I just checked a website, the memory needs 1.90, not 2.0
you should have it at 1.84-1.86 so when overvolted = ~1.90

I dont have much experience with GTLs, but lower your PLL to 1.50-1.52 and increase your NB to 1.54-1.56 (Make sure after overvolt doesnt go over 1.60)

If you could add some fans, it would help too. Overheat can cause inestability.

yeah the previous settings didnt really work. been changing them alot. memory seems to be stable now though!

    CPU Voltage = 1.36875
    CPU PLL = 1.58
    CPU VTT = 1.38
    Memory Voltage = 1.90
    NB Core Voltage = 1.52

    450FSB x 7Mltp = 3150Mhz

    10-10-10-30 2t
    tRRD 1
    tRC 44
    tWR Auto
    tWTR Auto
    tFAW 44
    rest is auto.

memtest has been stable for 30mins now. progress

now to tune timings as low i can. and also oc the cpu!

the oc bug got me bad.. im looking at more cooling now. either get new chipset coolers (dont think i need for mosfets). or go all out with water cooling. my brother got a pump lying around i could buy of him.. HMM what to do :P

slim, you got any suggestion for watercooling?

Checking your voltages, VTT seems pretty high IMO.

Water cooling, save yourself space and trouble and get a Bitspower BlackFreezer 790i for Striker II.

+1. Lower your vtt to 1.3-32.

yeah. trying to lower it. memtest keep failing when i do it. trying different voltages at the nb and memory + vtt.
suspect temps at the sb and nb are too high. just ''installed'' the old e8400 stock cooler to blow towards the nb and an older cpu cooler at the sb. using thin rope and tape. lol

    Hi guys,

    I've got a weird problem ... my s2e (bios 1203) runs stable at 1,35 vcore - q9650 @1840 (fsb460) linked and sync with ocz 2000@1840 ram (9 9 9 30 2t)
    vtt 1,30, nb 1,60 ...
problem is that I'm not able to copy folders (eg my picture folder) about 20gb from one internal sata HD to another internal sata HD ... it always freezes!

--> when I set p1 p2 to AUTO ... it copies the files without freezing!

--> with p1 p2 ENABLED it always freezes!

i've read (@anandtech) that p1 p2 enabled requires higher nb voltages... is that correct?

I exprienced, that raising nb volts to 1,72 and vtt to 1,36 helps me to copy at least 10-15 gb out of the 20gb-picture-folder ... but after this it freezes as well!

Can someone give me some hints, which voltage to increase to get my system "copy stable"
    thank u

1.72 to NB is REALLY high even if you were liquid cooling. I'm using 1.62 NB to get 1800 FSB.

How much mem volts are you using?, have you tried higher 8GB of patriot 2000mhz requires 2.06v mem for me.

I experienced something similar on 3.6Ghz

Whenever I copied like 8gbs from 1 HDD to another one, my PC would restart half way and 90% would be corrupted.

I also had P1 P2 enabled. Will work on it later on.

    Yep
That is known, but Im surprised corrupted data is back. Maybe I should revert to 0901.

I second that. 1.72 would set fire to my NB.

Yeah my SB might be overheating too, will double check later.

Have you experienced any corruption with 1203?

    So glad windows never corrupted...

I've never experienced corruption on this board, even way back when it was a problem for some. What I understood was, it only happened with high overclocks.

No. LLC is enabled. Running 1.31v in bios (translates to 1.36-.38v.)

I'm transfering 25 gigs from one drive to another right now for a test. No problems other than this 'green' drive being slow as molasses. :-)

    Ouch. That blows.

Just finished the transfer without any problems. My guesses to your corruption problem would be either heat or not enough vdimm.

Hmmm after running Prime95 for 10 hours I doubt is not enough vdimm

Memtest was also stable 140% 4 windows each with 775Mbs I believe
