    Hello everybody!

I have bought 3 Sempron 140 cpu and managed to unlock them all 3/3 --> 100% unlock ratio

Batch of all of them is 0927MPMW

30€ for X2 cpu, great job AMD Low budget buyers will be so happy!

I will overclock them to test core and northbridge stability, but for now some pictures and validation...

    Stay tuned!

I love how the box says "True single core design."

Nice work on the unlock. Will be fun to see how these clock.

This one unlocks also and is prime stable @ default. Used it in a little HTPC for my bedroom and dont have the time or motivation to do any OCing.

Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    No, multi is locked...

Here are some benchmarks on air, I pick the best chip out of 3 for benching, all scores are wr's, first places at hwbot, I will continue to run other benchmarks if there are folks interested in other Sempron results

Yes, turn on ACC -> Auto and second core is unlocked with new cpu string and after that temp monitor doesn't work, cores are always 0°C

Little thread update, Sempron went under water, little vcore bump and X2 run...

So, X1 Sempron 140 air cooled run 4076.95MHz with 3020 NB and HT frequency; X2 Athlon 440 (ACC Auto) water cooled run 4171.69MHz with 3090 NB and HT frequency...

LOL, yeah, for ~$40 you have something that can hit 4GHz easily.

It is quite good performer...there is also 2x1MB L2 caches.

Because Regor is already small core, yield are high, and I suppose that the new Semrpon will be very successful "unlocker"

Thanks Nedjo, nice to see you! And drfedja, you too! This time I have better ram for benchmarks, Super Talent 1800 CL7, last time with 250 and 550 I used Kingston 1866 CL9 but CL7 was impossible, now I'm satisfied with my ram...

Well here is mine, another one for the count of successful unlocks:
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=711752

Not sure why it was rejected though. I will say when I was not unlocking it the CPU was "Unknown" and got the name Athlon II X2 4400e once I unlocked it, so perhaps it is because the board did not recognize it.

Will put it through Air/Water tests at some point

Well here was just a few minutes of playing around. Used an S1283 air cooler:
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=711816

Validated fine this time. Weird, oh well. I don't think the voltage I used was necessary, I am more just seeing how high it can go before I tweak anything. Had some weird issues with the ram/mobo playing together (my guess) once I got to 260Mhz, but working now. Not bad for a $29.99 CPU from Microcenter lol.

Good job Cele303. Did you unlock the second core on a Foxconn mobo? I didn't know Foxconn supported that. Also, is it a GX or FX SB750 board with the latest BIOS which I assume supports the new Sempron? Thanks!

@Neo4, Foxconn motherboards are very rare in my country so I don't know, but I think the best way to find informations about cpu compatibility list, bios updates and ACC is mailing their support...

Sorry guys, didn't see these questions earlier...

Yes, the chip is cooler with only one core, not a big difference though, with original one core Sempron II (Sargas) is 45W TDP and unlocked he becomes 65W TDP Athlon II (Regor)... As you can see in my suicide runs one core can push about 30mhz more than two cores, it allows you to use little bigger cpu vid and about +2 htt more but ACC can be pain in the ass on some motherboards or if you are overclocking not fully stable unlocked cpu...

I think it is not polite to ask questions in our native language when we are here in world wide known forum, PM is better solution for that kind of questions, but the answer to you is I bought them from the main importer in my country, I'm small reseller

    $100 Combo at The Egg

    I got a Sempron 140 / Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H AM2+ 785g combo for $97.

    0932EFM

Unlocks with 'EC Firmware' to Hybrid and 'ACC' to Auto ...

    Another Pic

Used an old Opty copper-heatpipe cooler. Don't know the temps but the heatpipes were still cool All I ran was the AOD stability test but I think I've got a bit more headroom. Need to cool the FETs .... but first have to remove the &^#! motherboard because the power button on the Silverstone case got stuck.

Did I mention that the *&$! case cost $20 more than the CPU/mobo combo? - LOL

    Congratulations man!

I have two more Semprons, one can unlock, one can't... It is 4/5 unlock success so far...

    Screenshot

I pair Sempron with Asrock A770DE+, very cheap and great board, others components used were nearest my hand, to pair cpu and mbo with 2x2gb 1066 ddr2 cheap kingmax and ati 4670 the result is very nice and very cheap rig for low budget buyers...

Hey guyz, i managed to unlock my sempron 140 but i've been having problems with it when i unlock it. Tried using several operating systems.

    - Windows XP sp2 32 bit = hangs on welcome screen but when i uninstall the sound drivers, it doesn't hang.
    - Windows Vista Sp1 32 bit = hangs when i run 3dmark or any 3d games, even in Facebook.
    - Windows 7 32 bit = no longer hangs in facebook but still hangs when i play any games that has 3D.
    - Windows 7 64 bit 7600 build = same with windows 7 32 bit.

These things happen everytime i unlock it. but m not having any problems running in a single core. I also tried playing with the voltages but it didnt do anything that would help. anyone here knows what the problem could be?
