    Big nose is caused 20mm focal lenght.. in case you already donīt know that thats why its recommanded for portrait something from 90 to 110mm (105mm is considered as best..).

    Btw. that yellow-greenish isnīt bad in case you want scare ppl, but even then I would prefer to change that.. (simply by selecting Green color chanel in PS and lowering its brightness.. edit: not that easy.. but surely can be done Or simply next time make self-portrait on bright sunlight..)

    But nice scary portrait.

    I couldnīt resist. One of few portraits I took.. first time I tried shooting something else than architecture/scenery/nature..

    Btw. she thinks, that she is ugly and not photogenic.. (Iīm not saying that shes beauty or hyper-photogenic model.. but still, women.. )

    Opinions welcomed as usually.. (I know that for proper portrait, it would need better camera + lens.. I donīt have it.. not yet).

    I only have my 18-55mm, so no go on 105mm, haha. And I was just playing around really. The lighting in the bathroom is just like that, and I'm cool with it, so I left it. I could fix it up a bit in PS, but this was no editing at all.

    And I really do have a big nose, lol. It's just accentuated in that photo.

    Mescalamba, I don't think it's bad at all. I would have used a higher aperture value for sure, f/5.6 is a little wide open for portraits, I find. Of course, I would tell you to raise the ISO and therefore enable the usage of a higher shutter speed, but I'm not sure how the DMC-G1 does things. I think you'd seriously benefit from having an SLR.

    I like the picture though, it's not a bad pose, the slight head tilt is interesting. If you're shooting portraits you would usually not have the subject sitting square at you like she is. A rule of thumb is to have the subject sitting at a 45 degree angle, her closer shoulder slightly raised and her head tilted slightly towards the closer shoulder. If it's a man, have the head tilted towards the other shoulder, but once again, not by much.

    Metric, I really like what you did there. I've tried reversing my Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G (making sure that it's wide open with the use of a piece of cardboard in the mechanism) and having my Nikkor 55-200mm at various ranges, mostly at 200mm. I can't get a sharp picture like you did though, I assume it's my lenses. I've seen many people do it with a 50mm and a 100mm, people such as Brian Peterson, but also others on the internet. Do you reckon it's the combination of a 50mm and a 100mm that does it? Is the 50mm necessary? A 50mm lens certainly seems to be popular, I've seen it being done with a 70-300mm and a 50mm with good results too.

    Here's my image of the day, it feels like straight out of a KLM commercial :

    Model = Nikon D90
    Lens = Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 HSM Macro
    Exposure Time = 1/2000"
    F Number = F2.8
    ISO Speed Ratings = 200
    Exposure Bias Value = ą0EV
    Flash = Off
    Focal Length = 17mm

    55 on APS-C of yours is 1.6 x 55 = 88 .. which is pretty close to 90, should be ok for portraits as much as that mine..

    Thanks much for advice.. kinda wonder about higher aperture? Why? On this lens, theres no difference towards better at 5.6 or 8 or more.. (ofc too high is unusable as much as any kit lens).

    Higher ISO is no go.. even on 100 I have noise.. Iīm going to sell this as soon as possible and getting something better.. Iīve made serious mistake by buying this.. tough, canīt deny certain qualities.. but that SNR is just very bad..

    As with most of my sunset pics, it was taken from my home in Nelson, which is on the north coast of the south island of New Zealand. The view is across Tasman Bay.

    The closer beach on the left in the distance is called Tahunanui -- a beautiful, shallow-water area, with very warm water in the summer. That whole mini-peninsula is completely covered at high tide.
