    Doris's new home - possibly

Doris's new home - the possibly come from my husband! Possibly it might work

Doris will be the black 'n blue beast, rising from the Florida swamps. Currently she is like a hermit crab, has her main body but out grown her shell, decided this time to go with an extra large shell, so she has plenty of space to grow, in addition she will need a major facelift and general body makeover.

    Current body parts:

    Heart - Intel i7 975
    Main Artery - EVGA X58 Classified - 759
    Brain - 6Gb Corsair Dominator GT 2000
    Lungs - X-Fi Titanium
Vascular system - HK 3.0 and BP Black Freezers
    Circulation - Swiftech 655
    Bladder - Feser 360
    Stomach - Swiftech Micro Res
Intestines - Feser Blue UV 1/2" tube
    Lens - 2 x 285 FTW
    Cornea - EVGA HC blocks
    Iris - Swiftech 655
    Vitreous Humor - Feser 240
    Retina- Swiftech Micro Res
Optical nerve - Feser Silver/uv blue 3/8" tube
Spinal column - Enermax Revolution 1050W
    Ribcage - Sunbeam rheostat
Joints - numerous BP fittings, primarily compression

    New house:

    Mountain Mods Extended Ascension
    Smoked Grey Acrylic
    Black Annodized finish
    Horizon back
    Standard front
    Big window sides and top

    Planned facelift and makeover:

All cables sleeved with MDPC Black and Blue sleeving & heatshrinks - ordered
Micro Res's replaced with T3 - top fill version, maybe 2
Video cards tubing replaced with Primoflex Pro LRT Black 1/2" - ordered
Sunbean rheostat replaced by Aerocool Touch 2000 - already have
    BP Temp sensors - got
    Silver Killcoils - received
XSPC RX 360 - already have, came damaged hope to repair else will get Feser 360
    Sycthe GTs x 6 - received
    Artic Cooling MX3 - received

I have spent a couple of weeks pondering over this build, I was going to go with a regular Ascencion CYO, but I just do not want to find myself cramped for space, so guess it is better to go extended from the get go. I've got some pretty impressive results with my current system, and am looking to the future and the 300 series for some pretty intentsive benching. I can see myself outgrowing WC and moving onto phase, but that is down the road. I have 2 major problems, high ambient room temps and dust, we have 2 dogs, 2 cats and both smoke

How does this all look? All constructive ideas will be welcomed

Just checking back to see what the status is? Have you decided to go with the Ascension? This will be a heck of a beast. Top of the line hardware and cooling components. Looking forward to it!

Just finally got my extended ascension ordered today Work has been crazy busy and by the time I get to calling MM they have closed.

Will update parts list! - updated

Just waiting for the MDPC sleeving to wing it's way across the pond, but giving that task to hubby, he has way more patience than me! MM case should ship this week, so that should arrive next week, then let the fun begin

Case arrived this week, so took sometime today to start putting it all together.

    The big brown box arrives

    What was inside

    Back on

MB tray and brace in place

    Frame completed

The one thing that really worries me is the lack of support for the PSU. Mine will be over 7lbs once all the cables are sleeved.

I've looked through several Ascension logs and not found anything about people adding supports. Do the 4 screws adequately hold/support a heavy PSU?

I would assume they would. I think if you are that worried about it, just slap it on and see if it's too much. I think you will be able to tell.

Case looks good....love the anodized finish much better than the glossy powdercoat.

Also curious to see how your PSU holds with the mount. I've always wondered if there would be any issues mounting with just the 4 screws. Looking forward on report back...

You can get a flat powdercoat also.
I would be pretty nervous relying on those 4 little screws holding a 7lb PSU hanging above my expensive hardware!

EDIT: Love the MM cases though so looking forward to this build as well!

Put my PSU in this evening, just to see how it would hold up, definately distorted the back panel, so will need a brace.

Now to hunt down somewhere round here that does anodizing.

Well, parts are pretty much all here now, just waiting on a few odds and ends. But have enough to start some serious work on this project.
