Only four ICs on the back. Assuming there are only four on the other side ( a pretty good assumption in my book), that should give us the normal eight, which, at current densities, should probably equate to 1GB.

That's my assumption as well, and I was looking forward to more VRam per card this generation.

Well, isn't this supposed to be the midrange card? In that case, it probably wouldn't be powerful enough to take advantage of the extra memory anyhow.

it would be awesome to see this launch with as much power as a current 150$ card, but cost only 100$

its a tough call for the pricing department, i would sell a 4890 with DX11 for 200$ until nvidia gives it some competition. but then again, selling them near dirt cheap would be a great way to get everyone to convert and obtain nuken futs market share.

4770 "reference" cooler being put to good use.
Estimated to be between a 4870/4890 performance for a "current" 4850 price.
Thank you Not bad. Such a small card with the power of a HD-4870/4890 I suppose this will be HD-57xx?
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks

    Why not?

Mid range of the new gen is in the performance area of current high gen.

This card is quite likely better performing than a 4890. If only for the workarounds of dx11 to boost it

If those are accurate... 5890x2 at $400, nice price, but on Oct. 19

So, we won't expect the x2, or something this Sept after all?

I don't think it will be faster than the 4870. I'm thinking more along the lines that it will match the performance of the high end of the previous generation (similar to the 3870 -> 4670 transition and then some). If that's the case, then my statement holds water since even a 4890 can't make use of much over 1GB of video memory.

Previous X2 cards came a month or two later than single GPU variants. One can expect a single card will be out sometime before the dual...
You were not supposed to see this.

Hence, it's safe to say September will be the month where HD5xxx series is coming out.

$400 is the distributor price, i.e. a bulk price.
Most of the time they have to buy in thousands of units, so expect a retail USD price of anywhere from $499-$599.

Hmmm. Don't know how much the distributors add to that price.

That one looks closer to a retail price.

Remember everyone gets a cut or else there is no reason to move the product.

As long as the released cards don't forgo using the reference cooler like they did with the 4770 id be pleased.

Actually the card is Juniper XT and like I said, should be around 4870/4890 performance at a "nice" price.
