holy cow, that looks wicked-sick. You are lucky to have access to a great powder coater like that, with great experience, and a friend price to boot !

This build is gonna be epic, its damn worth the wait.

    3 x 5-1/4" Bay Reservoir x 2 w/ Internal LCD

The below sketchups are just to demonstrate the basic idea for the most part. For instance, the LCD screen shown would not be the one I'd choose to have within these reservoirs.

The base idea is to enclose a LCD screen within a reservoir.

I need to think about directing the flow down from the bottom up over the top of the LCD screen.

I of course want the LCD screen to be perfectly viewable but at the same time I think it would be really cool to see the current of water jetting past.

I'll be fabricating the exterior out of solid black derlin. The front of the reservoir as well as the entirety of the LCD enclosure within will be transparent plexi. I'm aiming to install a single LCD in each reservoir that takes up as much area as possible within my dimensional constraints. I'm ordering the plastics today and will be machining the reservoirs myself.

I'm looking for suggestions or ideas of any kind.

I ended up going powder coat with a look I felt surpassed nickel yet maintained some characteristics of it... I'm glad at first glance it appeared to you as though it might be nickel plated.

Question: How do you plan to run the power cord into the LCD, through the coolant in the reservoir, and have it 100% no-questions-asked, leakproof? I guess you could run it through the top above where the coolant sits? Still sounds risky to me.

Apologies if you explained this earlier in the thread as I just joined and saw the concept render.

If he builds another water-tight reservoir that will fit inside the larger one, all he has to do is tap a 1/4" (or smaller if he'd like) barb into the back of the two reservoirs, screw a barb into each, and run 1/4" (or smaller) tube on each of those barbs.. then run the wire through that tube. Barbs and tube will keep water out, just as easily as they keep it in.

yes this is ho i imagine he will do it I considered building my SSD into my res and this was my method of execution as well - turns out the SSD laser cut acrylic would have pushed the cost up like $100 so I filed that plan away for another build with another custom res

Interesting.. I hadn't thought of running the wire through the tubing, but it makes perfect sense. Neat concept.

    A vague crystal ball

The title of this post implies the following about the included photos in this post:
    A) The front panel will be flipped and of course most of the case isn't even showing.
    B) All cording will be properly sleeved (fans).
    C) Only around 15% of the total hardware components are shown.
    D) The configuration demonstrated below came to be only so I could give myself the vaguest of templates to use for envisioning future mods while waiting.
    E) The side panels will not simply be the default side panels... not even close.
    F) A.K.A. Basically, just some quick photos I took of as many of the panels that I could assemble until I get everything back from my new found powder coating friend.

Nope, hardly explained the basic details.

    right!
Hopefully I can demonstrate what a fine job very carefully CNC Milled acrylics, w/ proper bit changing, proper lubricant, proper axis travel speed, and perhaps only one focused try can accomplish in comparison to laser.

Indeed. I had planned to use modified b itspower Bits, modified with a copper/nickel plated extension (brazed/welded on and died to accommodate the tap) which once in the inner LCD chamber is muzzled by a female b itspower washer and top. In other words, in place of standard tubing I'd have a slightly extended metal pipeline as it were.

We'll see however, I'm still working out the dimensions.

Thx. I found an ionic breeze + hepa filter system that pulls air up as near center the photo center as possible has been doing quite well as far as dust is concerned... Though, in this dust latent central valley of CA it seems even with a clean room dust is inescapable.

I have my stock of ThermoChill PA120.4 and .3s sitting snugly on a shelf... As much as they may want to I won't let them be a part of this build. 8 rads should be enough... and it is... but it isn't...

Thx. I'm really excited about the prospect of super-imposing a time lapsed background w/ my camera rotating about the machine in high-def when all is said in done. I've plans, plans, plans... lots of pie in the sky... I'm good at that. With any luck, I'll follow through.

Thx shazza! Though it seems along the lines of 'War & Peace' epic, meandering and slow paced intermittent with tiny bursts... It's okay, good things come to those who wait... unless by chance your waiting to see why the tides suddenly pull back 200 yards while your at the beach.

Just wait until I get the Pedestal rigged up in concert. I need to find some monster wheels for it too. There's no way I'm going to pick this thing up after it's done... I'll need to drive it around remotely for sure.

I haven't been paying so close attention to the sleeving forum lately... so I must ask: I've the green and need to purchase 500 feet of MDPC-X sleeving and shrink wrap as well. Will the gods of sleeving smile upon me and allow this transaction to take place?

The pedestal assembled and now attached to the Ascension... apologies for the close up skewed photos... didn't have the time to break out a larger backdrop.

It's a funny feeling: even though I've been working on this build for awhile now I finally feel like Its just began.

oddly enough, i like the view of the inside better...
with the grill being occluded by the case and forming a black circular outline rather than the exterior covered by the black grills...
