Just wanted to post a little bit of my own experiences with my 790X UD4P in case it might help someone.

I was overclocking my unlocked 550BE by just bumping up the multiplier by .5

Once I got to 3400mhz, I got prime95 errors after 7.5 hours (I ran prime95 multiple times, and the error consistently showed up after 7.5 hours).

Everything in BIOS was at stock except for the CPU multiplier. Before bumping up the CPU voltage, I wanted to try something else.

I increased CPU NB VID from 1.1v to 1.2v (based on the advice in this thread ) and I increased the CPU NB frequency from 2000mhz to 2200mhz.

It seems that my system is rock solid stable at 3.4ghz now(passed 10 hour prime run).

    Hope this helps!

    NEW BIOS for MA790XT-UD4P

Version F4I is up for the XT (DDR3) version of this board.

I flashed it tonight and did a few test, so far so good...
I haven't really tried pushing the OC, but it DOES run stable at the same clocks I had using F4A....

    Major changes I noticed:

    1) BIOS now shows NBVid voltage (WooHOO! )!
It still doesn't report properly in software, but at least it's no longer a guessing game.

    2) Added a couple of options in Memory settings

    Thank You GBT!

I have the X-ud4p version. It unlocked the 4th core, 3.6 x4 prime stable. The cpu fan header was dead from the start and the onboard ethernet connection is dodgy at best. Sometimes it connects sometimes it doesn't. Seems it is prone to fail completely according to some on Newegg. I don't think I have ever owned a GB board that actually worked completely and this is no exception.

Drivers on the GB site are in packages rather than individual drivers, makes installing confusing. I installed raid for one day and it crashed due to corrupted data, PCI not "really" locked?, anyway now I'm back to a one disk OS, while I ferret out the other issues. When I went to buy they had 5 in stock, 4 open boxes returns and one new. I got the new one, I can see now why the rest might have been returned.

It did unlock the 4th core, but some things were and is still a fight. If you buy this board be prepared to look for work arounds. The bios does not auto update, so if you add a drive, or anything, clear cmos and start all over in the bios. The good news is, win 7 64 bit (7600) found all the drivers needed.

Mine needed +250 on cpu nb vid and some have needed +.275, +250 cpu, +.01 nb volt control to get stable, I'm running my SB at 1.3 (.+.01). 4 cores are better than 3 for pushing data, it's not even close. 4 cores at 3.6 + Raid 0 on my single platters "was" very very fast.

The ethernet issue: Mine won't connect at all sometimes though. http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/ga-m...62/#post302417

Well dont use the ethernet driver from windows update,, it dont work!

Use the Offical Lan driver @ Gigabyte site..
Ive never had ethernet problems on this Mobo ,,all the Betas and offical Bioses work 100% even @ 300htt....Seems you may have a bad driver/Are using the Driver From CD or your HT/PCi-E bus isnt set properly.

Last it could be the Mobo..I know numerouse people who use this exact Mobo and None of them have Lan problems. You may have the only UD4P ive ever read or seen that dosnt work with its lan. RMA it.

Also the PCI-E bus speed should be set to (100) not 101 or 110 or Auto. Especially if you are overclocking the HTT.

    Good luck.
Use the F5 bios and set defaults after flashing. Hybrid mode ive found works best for Locked or Unlocked chips .Just dont Use ACC if your gonna NOT UNLOCK anything.

Pci-e is set to auto, htt at 2000. I have tried many drivers, but not th oens you said.

I installed at PCI card and win 7 found it and installed it. No luck on connection.

I just bought a USB D-link DUB-E100 and it installed from the disk and I can now connect. I'll see if I can find that Lan Driver and set pci-e to 100.

Set pci-e to 100 and it connected! Who would have thought?

Now I just need to figure out how to take it past 3.6.

Hope it works...Anyways gigabyte has come a long way...Im happy to say im liking thier newest mobos over Asus ATm .. Bioses and Customer/RMA support way better.

The Biggest thing was the Double layer Mobos and price for performance. Ive used Asus for five years and some Biostar inbetween. By far im having most fun with these New Gigas.

I will be getting another but DDR3 soon , looking for that OPENBoX special

You were right, win 7 driver did not work. For whatever reason, I did connect a few times, then would not connect again. I'm using the Vista 64 driver and it connected, at least for now. Thanks for help me.

I'm stuck at 3.6, I might be able to do 3.7 if I drop the ram mulit to 333 and run loose timings but 3.8 is not reachable even at +275. I'm only running ddr2 800 but I have had it over 900 on my asus board. Nothing I have tried though will get me past 3.6ish. I can run 3.6 at 800mhz 4-4-4 or 3.7 at 667 5-5-5.

Any suggestions or am I done?

I finally gave up on windows 7 after trying every Lan driver GB has on the website. The issue is this, I had to uninstall the lan driver and let win 7 find it each time I booted. Is it the board or the driver? Well, I'm back on my xp64 and it hasn't failed to connect, yet.

Lan failed under xp64 now. 4 days I have been fighting this. I'm having to return email on my blackerry. I would NOT buy this board again or any gigabyte ever again. The last two GB boards gave me fits until I finally replaced them. I should have known better. GB is a POS and NOTHING has changed. I'm not even getting lights on the board that it's getting a signal. It's dead on the board, just like many said on newegg. I should have listened, but nooooo. As usual, GB hardware specs are good, software/bios BLOWS. I spent another 14 hours today trying to fix it. I'm sick and tired of all this. Buyer BEWARE!

So what's the issue with your ethernet jack? It drops the driver at every bootup?

No it's shows installed, but no lights on the back. (that's new) I used to be able to uninstall the driver then boot and windows would find it, then connect. It won;t even do that now. I've tried win xp32, 64, win 7 and several fresh installs of each. I have pci-e locked at 100 but I'm not convinced it's locked and maybe it's corrupting the driver once I overclock. I'm using a usb right now to type this, but even it fails, so I have to uninstall the driver then restart, even that does not work all the time, so I have to uninstall the device not just the driver. The only thing I do know is this is my 3rd GB motherboard and the last two ended up in the trash and this one looks like it's headed that same way.

    Dang ,
I have had a few Biostars do this exact Dead Lan thing and even MSI lol..Come to think my old M3A 78-T fubared, but Ive never had a Giga do it though . My 754's(Gigabyte(gigalan lan still works

I woulda RMA's the Old boards and then Sold em as chepo's instead of trashing em.

I would say you may have gotten a I/O bugged Mobo and that you should RMA it while you can. $h!t happens.

    I went through 6 GX's with my 9950 when they first cam out. I kept popping PWm's(phets_ with the 140wattchip @3500+and 1.65v

After the Sixth one ,, they finally sent me a newer revision. I then sold it to my friend for half price and he clocked his 9850 to 3.6mhz with out a problem.

I still like Biostar i just hate some of thier Mobos lol.

    To each thier own ,
but i must say ,,RMA so you arnt wasting a mobo. To think one could buy the New RMA from you. Then you can use that dough on new Mobo.

UdP4's are nice , i think you just got a bum one.

    Hi Guys ! I've the Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H and i have a question :

when i set vcore at 1.45v and cpu/nb at 1.30v for example, i load the AMD Overdrive tool and the vcore is at 1.35v (stock), same thing with cpu/nb vid : 1.10v. It's a bug of the AOD ???

So another thing, actually my X2 550 BE is unlocked and overclocked to 3737 Mhz with 1.45 vcore, stable OCCT, but BSOD 0x...124 with the same vcore and 3755 MHz. Overvolting cpu/nb brings me nothing. What do you think about this ? Can you help me please ? Thanks a lot Guys

I have a single video card, it has a PCI Express x16. I "had" this card in the blue pci-e slot and decided to try it in the orange pci-e and when I did the Lan powered up and connected. Could this have been my whole issue all along?

You want to keep HT as close to stock ( 2000) as possible. 2000-2100 is fine, but not past that or you'll take a performance/stability hit.
