I am reading all these questions (well most of them anyway), and looking back to my review write-up and can see where I answered them.

So here is where I stand with all of this...

I did my review of a pump top, the Typhoon III. I ran the PQ tests like any other pump top. I ran additional PQ's with the dual inlet/outlet configuration, setting the loop flow rate to a set GPM for PQ of the dual inlet/outlet. The dual inlet/outlet was confusing as hell for everyone I shared it with for feedback. For those that were confused, I asked what would help to understand how the dual inlet/outlet works, since they had no problem understanding the single PQ. All of them wanted system flow rates. So I pulled a couple blocks and rads off the shelf and looped em up, order method to the choices, just what I had in the lab at the time. So, I looped them up, since the EK top, DT top and DDC w/ XSPC top were not advertised as a dual loop product, the thought of splitting the loop with Y's at the pump inlet and outlet never crossed my mind. I just ran them serial. and for the T3, I split them. No sinister plot, just the way I worked it out in my head and got to it. It’s really that simple, I didn’t think to run the other pumps in a dual loop (read: opposing Y) configuration when I originally ran the PQ tests on them, nor when I ran the loops tests. I don’t see dual inlets/outlets on the Detroit Thermo, EK or XSPC top. The way I labeled the System Flow Rate charts, well, I could’ve done that better I guess.

But as far as the Y testing, it’s not part of the other products, plain and simple. In order to continue performing tests, writing reviews and what not is companies releasing products and me working my tail off to try and get a sample…a lot of the time, I can’t for some reason or another. Mind you, sometimes I talk with a company for 6 months with nothing but lines and lines of IM messages claiming I am scum of the earth for reviewing a competing product. However, If I start down the slippery slope of modifying parts or having companies modify the parts I receive for testing, then my bench, tests, reviews and credibility are essentially for sale and that leads to no more samples, no more testing, no more reviews. I tested the Typhoon III, Detroit Thermo, and EK tops as they were designed and marketed. This should give you insight into one of the reasons why I am not losing sleep over running the opposing Y tests.

Another piece of this I have been contemplating...is the role of a reviewer. Should I test every possible configuration under the sun, with temp sensors on everything, running Prime95, different radiators, so on and so forth? The answer, NO. My job as a reviewer and an active member of the enthusiast community is to tinker with parts, the major difference between me and most of everyone else…I spent several months and continue to round up manometers, flow meters, monitoring devices, DC power supplies, aquarium heaters, thermal sensors, etcetera in order to continuing to learn something that I do not fully understand. Yes I said it, I don’t know everything nor will I ever claim to…that’s why I visit forums, to learn and to share experiences and the knowledge I’ve gained. My reviews are a collection of the knowledge I gained about “such part” while testing, I won’t ever claim to be 100% right. But what the LC community used to do when reviews would come out is get their hands on the parts being reviewed and tinker themselves, that’s what hobbies are all about…tinkering—well, getting time away from the wife too .

Over the last three years (time I've been in LC) the majority of responses to reviewers have gone from “thanks for testing, looks interesting and I’m getting one to play with myself.” To, “your testing is all wrong, you are biased, we demand more testing.” I have been testing almost a year now and reviewing for a few months less, my testing and review writing is still being worked out and many things for me to learn. All a learning process for me, through that process is what drives me to continue testing and reviewing, an important part of that is the feedback I get from the community, which is really how we all learn. Seems that a lot of the learning has been put on the shoulders of the reviewer/tester rather than the tester giving his take, presenting the data he has and the community taking it from there. I still see it in the review threads, but there is more distraction from the actual review and information than actual discussion of the product(s) tested.

My reviews are not the “be all, end all” for a product, what they are, is a log of my time and the tests I ran. I am certain that others would have done just as good a job if not better than I did with the Typhoon III or any product. However, the direction I took on testing and reviewing the Typhoon III was because of the product design, and the testing experience I have thus far. And this time next year, I guarantee my tests and review style will be different and closer to what I consider ideal. What I really want to see if those who actually read the reviews to think about the concepts presented and go tinker with them. Whether it be with the product reviewed or not, just gain what learning you can from the review. We always need more tests and more testers, that’s why I list off the components and test methods I use, gives others a base to go off. You don’t need the same gear I have, use whatever. We always need more tests, testers and more information available.

For now, I'm still working on setting up my lab in its new space, more to come on that little later.

as i said guys.. i gave it to him a lot earlier then you guys did... But the numbers add up, and the application works.
So u guys can argue with physics all you want.

Any chance we can expect to see a DDC version of this badboy? Or is the design soley meant for D5's PQ Curve?

Has anyone been able to find out if there will be more T3 in stocks globally?

    Skinnee,

keep up the good work. If people can't agree with your testing or testing methods, then no one is holding them from performing their own tests and posting their own results.

    Thanks again for your time

I have argued with physics before. Usually there has been either too much testosterone or alcohol involved... or not enough common sense lol.

There is a version with the DDC. Looks like Primo will be selling it as the "TMR". Will let you know the details when they say it is OK.

I already have a dual DDC version done also. It is kind of cool because it lets the user select between serial or parallel.

In my last conversation with Brian he said they were caught a little flat footed as they expected to sell XXX units the first month, and sold three times that so he had to order more inventory and that parts should be shipping out to resellers Friday "ish". The good news is that the new glue has passed trials so there will be no more bonding band!

Woot for EvilVision! Thanks for the renders Rocky.

The First image is the brushed black anodized. Second is the polished aluminum. Last is the silver (clear) anodized shown from the back so you can see how the plate fits down into the basins on the T3. No more flat 2D looking face plates, and the frame makes the bottoms of the basins look like windows or sight glass. These will be machined from solid 1/2" thick aluminum.

The thickness is about 1/16" and they will mount with acrylic double backed tape around the perimeter.

If it needs improving then it's because I missed something so I feel obligated to fix it if I can =)

The glue thing really bugged me and all the adhesive reps said there wasn't anything that would fit out needs which felt like a challenge to me lol.

Wow, those faceplates are very nice looking. Are those planned on being available soon? Where from if so? (sorry if I missed this somewhere else)

I like everything I've seen and read so far about the T3 except for having it mounted right in the front of an all black aluminum case (for example). Those plates would definitely make it blend in more with the chassis and break up all the clear void some.

    Agreed.

They are being machined within the next 2 weeks I am told. I have no idea how long packaging and shipping and all that will take, but plan on 2 to 4 weeks for inventory to start hitting resellers.

I will save the next poster the time on the price question. No Idea whatsoever but it will not be outrageous.

    Awesome, thanks BG!

I hadn't even thought of asking about price until you mentioned it...I was just considering it a necessary upgrade

BG, slightly different question. I saw some posts in the other thread that looked like they related to different fittings on the T3. I know by default it ships with the PC acrylic ghost compression fittings.

Is there any danger in using (or need in some circumstances to use) metal fittings on it instead? Wasn't clear about that. What do most use?

LOL. was going to be me on the price question. I like those alot. When you get some more info, let us know. I am very interested in the black one. As the previous poster said, it will be nice to have it blend in.

It seems that if you wish to use B P Comp fittings, you needed a bigger o-ring. I thought everyone said B P fatboy barbs worked fine, but there are some Primochill ghost fitting barbs that work too.

Go to the FAQ and Guidelines board, you'll see a BIG topic.

@BG, I hope the "brushing" on the anoded black one is going to be in the same direction as the cases are. Nothing looks more out of place than a brushed aluminum part that doesn't follow the same direction as the case.
