    3xAcard 9010 6x4GB R0 on ich10r benches

    Good evening,

I think the acards mostly max out ich10r at 4x, however it does look like going to 6x R0 adds some random performance at the expense of some sequential read performance (see iometer results).

Test system is i7 965 on Gigabyte extreme mobo, 3x1GB G. Skill 2000/C9, 2xGTX295 Quad SLI (koolance blocks), cpu and vc's water cooled via 2xBoreas all in series. Boot drive via mtron 16GB and non-ich10r controller (on the mobo), Acard array standalone on the ich10r (exception - the acard is the boot array on ich10r for PCMark05 - Windows 7 build 7100)

    Clocks - cpu @ 4.48 (35x128) ht off, memory @ 1792 (99924), pcie @101

I think you hit all the limits on the ICH lol. The random reads/writes dont seem to scale too well anymore and the sequential reads for some reason dropped. You had an ARECA controller didnt you... why havent you tried doing soft raid between ARECA and ICH? Would make an interesting test. For example 3xR0 on ICH and 3xR0 on ARECA both raided together.

I've been looking at the most high end setups out there and it seems to me that the controllers always end up the bottlenecks right now for high end setups so I am rather curious what would happen if some controllers were raided with one another.

ich10r plus 1231ML-2G - 3 on each - wow great idea - I have to work the weekend - big project review coming up - but I'm anxious to give this a try!
