i'm on the 1605 bios, still experiencing turbo throttle. Look below at cpuz and compare multi to realtemps. I'm not sure which is correct or is this a realtemp issue. Inputs appreciated. Thanks.

I see there is a 1606 now too. Anyone try this yet?

Neither RealTemp nor CPU-z are correct, although RealTemp is closer. RealTemp displays the multi rounded to the nearest 1/2.

In order to see what the actual multiplier is with no rounding, you need to use i7 Turbo:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=225450

Please test 1606 and report back if it still throttles. I would assume it does, but one can hope.

Shameless copy of my post on the ASUS forum:

I'm still having some issues that i can't figure out myself. Maybe a fresh look on my problem can help me out.

I'm having serveral problems with my P6T Deluxe.

First my G15 USB keyboard is not detected when it is connected to the back (on MB itself). When i connect it to the front of my case (Antec P182) it works fine. Tried all Bios versions. 1505 seemed to work, but then i updated to 1604 and now its gone. Bios setting is set to Hi-speed. Full speed is not an option as i copy a lot to my usb drive and i need the speed.

Second., I wish to use the S3 standby (hibernate) functionality of Vista. I can get this to work fine EXCEPT when i choose "allow this device to wake the computer" on the marvell nic. I want to use this to remotely wake the computer. When i enable the setting "allow.....", and want to resume the computer from its sleep mode by pressing the spacebar on my G15, the keyboard starts flashing and the fans in my case start blowing but nothing happens. I have to remove the powercord from the pc to get my pc startup normally because my G15 is showing nervous things

Strange thing is.... I installed Windows 7 RC recently... and guess what. Hibernate and Wol works flawless. The "Allow this device to wake the computer" is enabled by default. I have switched back to vista.

My specs: (detailed ..maybe a power issue??)

    Case: Antec Performance One P182
    PSU: Coolermaster Silent Pro M700
    MB: ASUS P6T Deluxe (1604)
    CPU: Intel i7 920 @ 3.2 (see settings below)
    MEM: 2 kits Corsair Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D 8-8-8-24 (12gb total)
HD: WD Velociraptor 150Gb WD Raptor 150Gb,WD Caviar 750GB, WD MyBook 1TB
    VID: Sapphire HD4870X2 2GB
    DVD-RW:LG GGW-H20L BLUE-RAY
    SND: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi ExtremeMusic
    Webcam: Quickcam Fusion
    Keyboard: Logitech G15 v2
    Printer: Canon Pixma 610R

OS is Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1 (installed 2 but no difference)
All the latest drivers (i even installed the intel chipset drivers i used in Win 7, they were also for Vista ..version 9.1.1013). Also installed latest Marvell drivers from website marvell.

    OC bios settings:
    Ai oc tuner: X.M.P
    BCLK: 160
    DRAM frq: 1604
    UCLK: 3207
    QPI: 5774

    CPU Volt: 1.225v
    CPU PLL: 1.80v
    QPI/DRAM: 1.35
    DRAM: 1.64v

    Power:
    Suspend Mode: S3 only
    ACPI 2.0 : Enabled
    ACPI APIC: Enabled

Power on by PCIE devices : Enabled (Marvell is a PCIE device).

I hope this post is detailed enough to troubleshoot ... need more info.. ask me.

the P6T vanilla/dlx are the only one have this crap. None of the EVGA (I had the EVGA x58 SLi vanilla for few days), Gigabyte, DFI, MSI or Biostar have this nonsense. I'm already on water, underload temperature around 86~88C in LinX 4.51Ghz @1.45v with HT enable with ambient around 26C.

I just finished a RealTemp update. When Turbo throttling starts, the multi will step down in steps of 0.2 which might make it easier to see when this problem first starts. With a 920, if your multi goes from 21.0 to 20.8, 20.6, 20.4 or 20.2 at full load then it is definitely Turbo throttling. Basically I transferred the code and what I learned from i7 Turbo back into RealTemp. I still have a couple of more things to transfer over like Turbo mode disable and the ability to toggle C1E.

When the multi drops below 20, it should go down in steps of 1.0 to a minimum of 12.0.

For the DFI guys with the 12X multi issue in Windows 7, I added an INI option to RealTemp called:

    MultiBoost=1

This helps get their multiplier up to its maximum which is a hell of a lot better than it sitting at 12 at full load. It probably won't help the Asus turbo throttling issue but it won't hurt to try this.

I was being warned that the UD5 have some cold boot issue, the S3 doesn't work, and also saw quite a few people turned away from the UD5 for one reason or another so I'll have to hold that thought to do more research about it before I jump the gun. Other than the multiplier throttling issue this P6T Dlx v2 is rock solid so far, which I much prefer over the EVGA x58 sLi I just returned.

Surely someone around can hack the latest bios to circumvent this multi throttle issue.......someone?

Bloody Asus, if this board wasn't so stable I'd get rid of it because of this throttle issue, if this was fixed I wouldn't even look elsewhere.

I have no idea why Asus is pissing so many of its customers off! I think may be they are arrogant because they think that nobody is going to return mobo just because of this issue and they hold a good market share of mobo market.

Ben, does the S3 work on your Asus at higher BCLK (like 200+)? It doesn't for me.

They consider it a premium feature and have made it exclusive to the Rampage II line of motherboards.

Does anyone have an email that I can write to them about this?

Anyway, I just bought the Asus P6T and am not sure if I can post in this thread about it because it's not one of the Deluxe boards? I wanted to ask if I can use a W3520 on it. I have read I can, but will have certain things locked? Is that correct? Will Asus fully support the CPU in a newer BIOS update?

I've got the board, but just paid for the CPU so I don't have that yet. For the RAM I was just going to get a 6GB kit of 1600Mhz OCZ Platinum CL7s for now and upgrade later if I need to when the prices come down a little.

Will this be OK to get me to 4.2Ghz on the P6T with W3520 on Air Cooling?

That's bullsh*t. When you spend $300 on a motherboard, that should be considered "premium" by any stretch of the imagination. I don't need tri-SLI or any of the other useless bells and whistles that the Rampage boards possess so I grabbed this one.

If they don't change their policy, this will be the first, and last, Asus motherboard that I purchase.

Ice009: You need a serial number and have to jump through a few more hoops to submit an official complaint.
Everyone here with Turbo throttling issues needs to speak up.

No, because I use this rig exclusively for gaming and 200 more Mhz won't make a difference, yet. I have had it stable at 4.2Ghz and used unclewebb's tool to check for thermal throttling. I didn't notice any. My 920 is under good water-cooling and I live in freaking Alaska so I don't have to worry about environmental influences.

My SLI'd GTX 260's aren't being bottlenecked so I figured why bother keep it running past 4.0 at this point in time.? However, I plan on buying two of the next-gen GPU's this fall and want to push my chip even further.

I just find it utterly ridiculous that I can spend $300 on a motherboard and a hugely important feature is being denied me because they want to sell more of their $400 motherboards that very few people ever will buy. Seriously, how many people run tri-SLI? Give me a break.

I'll be leaping through the hoops on a matter of principle. This is ridiculous.

SHAFT Brazil: You're not seeing Turbo throttling because you are able to run 4.2 GHz with only 1.232 volts. The issue happens when the core voltage gets closer to 1.40 volts or the core temperature gets up a little higher. By running LinX instead of Prime95, your CPU might get hot enough at your present settings and will start to show Turbo throttling.

rge did some thorough testing on his board so users can understand what Turbo throttling looks like and how to reliably detect it. Sometimes CPU-Z waits too long before showing this problem.

First, thank you for your answer unclewebb

I get some troble to get some stable overclock in here... i can run linX for 30x with 1.216vcore without problens, but when comes to Prime 95, i just get stable! The temperature is fine, i just get confused about the voltages in the P6T Dlx V2

    bblock - 200
    mult - 21x

CPU Vcore - 1.231 in bios
    VTT - 1.80
    QPIv - 1.28
    DrammVoltage - 1.60

I pass in the LinX test easy with this settings....

My memo is Patriot 1333 Viper series, but i runing at 1200mhz firt to get stable voltages in the CPU.

So my question is, is this voltages are to low for P6T?

    Bios

I believe that they rushed all thees i7 boards out because the market was slow. Most of the first bios did not even run 12GB. Now some report 24GB support.

ASUS pulled the support for the I/OxAPCI Interrupt Controller because it has a memory conflict on the x58. Intel notes it needs to be moved/ located on the ICH10R

Well soon the LGA-1156 will be out in many flavors. I am sure some will be fantastic OverClockers and the i7 will step back for the new socket.
    Intel Core i7 LGA1366 - 3.60GHz (20x 180 BCLK) / 4 Cores / 8 Threads / 1.26v / UCLK 3067MHz / QPI 6.47 GTs
    Crucial, Micron D9JNM ICs, 12GB DDR3 - 1440MHz, 8-8-8-20 1T, 1.6v, Tri-Channel
    Palit NVIDA GeForce GTX 460 1GB DDR5 16x 2.0 - GPU 750MHz / Shader 1500Hz / DDR5 3625MHz
    2x Intel X25-M G2, 80GB SSD, ICH10R RAID 0 / Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
