If anything i would try to get a 920 on the cheap because of this. They are incredible chips...

So they are phasing out the Core i7 900 series and all 1366 CPUs from now on will bear the Xeon brand, allowing them to charge more? If so, great game Intel.
So Gulftowns might end up as Xeons only?
Maybe the rumors were true and the Core i5 will end up branded as Core i7 800 series (or smth.), in an atempt to fool customers into spending roughly the same amount of money (as they would have on an actual i7 setup) on a lesser part.
I guess we'll find out in about a week.

I believe the 920 is being replaced by the 930, and 940 is being replaced by the 950, this is from someone who is an etailer, got a letter from Intel being told the 920 is gone, so is the 940, to be replaced by the 930/950.
I've heard rumours that the 940 is going end of life once 950 is established and there wont be D0 940s, likewise with the 965 & 975. So since D0 920s exist it is unlikely that it will be discontinued. The time line for phasing out C0 i7s is down to Intel shifting the 'old' stock into the channel.

there yo go bringing intel into a amd thread again lol, if that was someone droping a dig at amd you would be crying like a girl.qft!
This is what happens when the Competition is weak, this isn't OK, it sucksCore i5 will continue to be priced above or about the same as AMD's best. i5 Motherboards are said to only be 10 to $25 cheaper than their X58 counterparts. That's why I said why bother and just went with a Q9550 to replace my 8400. In fact, I would have gotten a Phenom II rather than an i7 LOL! If given a Do over, I'd do the same thing again.

I am on my PHII system at home right now and it actually does game smoother than my intel rig.... lol
Wow!! I for one am shocked.
If that's true, what is the fastest PHII that will work in a Maximus X38 mobo?

Run down to microcenter and grab a few 920 D0s for two franklins each.
You guys are just the worst, If this was an AMD thread and people posted something like this about Intel being better you would be making emo kids look happy, Sad guys, Sad. I am not angry that you have a point to make, It may well be a good one, But from now on how about being a bit easier on people in AMD threads that do not think the garden is all rosy? Dont be hypocrites.
Actually gallag, the last 2 posts you quoted were kind of tongue in cheek(even if they are true in what they claim).Apart from that the topic was about i7 and you can check it yourself instead of gripping on first jokes that come by in this thread. Intel users(an dyou know who in particular) are not even close to being this nice when it comes to posting in AMD threads, but you fail to acknowledge this...
