I think the one you are talking about is the 3845B027 Batch which would be a sooner week production chip.

Like to see how your 3849B028 runs, it seems like this specific batch runs hot.

Personally I can't justify spending extra $300 for the extra 300Mhz increase in speed. Hope it's a great OCer, at least.

Yeah I don't like those people either...they do operate out of an office very close to where I live (unless they moved)...I remember when the Core 2 Duo CPUs first came out and I was hunting for a Core 2 Duo 2.93 EE CPU and they told me they had it in stock (only place claiming this at the time)...they had no idea I lived so close so they kept telling me they would ship it overnight, blah blah blah...I said, I would come to their place the next day with CASH to pay for the CPU....it suddenly went out of stock after that e-mail. They are liars and post that they have stuff in stock when in reality, they are still waiting like all other retailers...they just want to charge you and get your money, regardless of how long they make you wait.

Got my SLBEJ i7-920 at Micro Center-NJ today!

Two weeks ago I went to Micro Center in Patterson NJ area and they had C0's in the display case.

Today I went to the store after seeing a post somewhere that someone was able to get a D0 stepping by seeing a salesperson Hemang.

I lucked out, Hemang was at the store and he went "in the back" and got me a S-spec: SLBEJ 17 920 retail box. I paid $229.99. That particular location has 1/2 sales tax (3.5%).

If I went a few days earlier I could have caught one for $199.99!

Go see Hemang and he will hook you up!

Now I need to get the other stuff:
Looking to get Asus PT6 Dlx V2
Not sure of memory, but considering
    Mushkin 998679 7-8-7-20 3x2GB $138
    Mushkin 998706 6-7-6-18 3x2GB
    Mushkin 998691 Redline 6-7-6-18 3x2GB $189 w/ $10MIR

    P.S
Micro Center had recently lowered their price to $199. I called them and asked if they could do a price adjustment.
They OK'd it and credited me the difference!!!

You can also ask Chet and Luis. They should know as well. They had 2 different batches which I was able to confirm from friends. 3849A866 and 3849B028.

Too funny! Having met Hemang he is far from being from the Masters of the Universe. He is more like the guy on the fiber one commercial.

There's just a special guy (or two) in most of the stores. At my local Micro Center, there's salesperson that is that kind as well. He will go the extra miles to get what you want. When he is not there, I usually would have a tougher time to get what I want.

why only microcenter sell i7 920 for $199? so that's mean newegg for example get profit over $100 on each selling i7 920? considering that the $199 already have a profit inside it?

Microcenter is probably(definately) selling the chips as a loss leader.
