I read somewhere that the heatsink is not properly attached on pwm. Does it happen on few mobos or is more common thing?
chew, what replacement parts?

you really need to get those areas covered with a fan or two, i allways have both those areas cooled by air, especially to fetsand chokes area, heres a pic of what its doing at the moment. both areas barely get above 35 degrees C, 40 on a hot day
i have found personaly that most Mobo's regardles of who makes it, have badly fitting or non fitting heatsinks, abit and asus are famous for it. as chew demonstrated at the start of this thread, it is better to pull it off and remount it with some new pads and paste, that way there are no headaches later, if its in the case.

The PWM chokes for the CPU PWM are unbranded no names..........and the NB and DDR PWM is not using TRIO chokes...........The problem with the heatpipe is it's usually not mounted well and has barely any pressure on one side, not making good contact on mosfets...
Seems asus is selling newegg repaired boards from RMA with cheaper components for the egg to sell as open box.............
Excellent QC asusNote the sarcasm

I will drop my cellshock 2x1 gig sticks in then....maybe its a 2x2g issue.
980 is fine it seems with 2x2g.......these 2x2g sticks in theory should do 4-4-4 1000 though so it must be the board, bios or 955 not agreeing with them.....
Update
Allrighty cellshocks will not do 1000 4-4-4 with even 2.3v, couldn't even get into windows 1202 bios......My gigabyte will 32m with just 1000 4-4-4-10 set and 2.2v.......
Will try another bios........

bad vdrop
tweak ??for some volt saw has only played with it in a day, have water on CPU http://www.octeamdenmark.com/forums/...5&d=1241899979
Well I settled on 1303 myself.......1202 has issues.....will pass memtest and hardlock in windows....
1402/3 seems to have borked the timings.........and 1303 although I don't think its up to par is probably the most reliable.........1102 does not work correctly with PH II 955.........
Still can't do 1000 4-4-4, and I used this same cpu and ram on another board and it could at least pass 32mPI with just setting speed 4-4-4-10 undervolted by .1 and go..........
Get to work asus....seems you guys have a bit of polishing up to do.....

I tryed the 1403 bios after having alot of issues with 1402..
1403was better but buggy so went back to 1303 and ill have to agree with chew it seems to be the best and most stable at least on my system with the 7750be...
I sure wish asus would work on the cpu vcore voltage issue...i dont understand why when you set voltage to a certain spec its always alot higher than what ive set..
this issue dosent seem to me it would be hard to correct with a bios update....
im holding off right now to see the new dual cores and lower wattage x3 and x4's coming out next month....
living in florida heat is always an issue down here even with the air conditioner cooling things off....
ive always thought asus was the most stable of boards as the ones ive owned have been great but ill have to say this board has been a bit of a disapointment for me...
I wonder now if i should have gone with a gigabyte board as i almost did....spending 200$ on a board and having such issues for so long now dosent build alot of confidence..
wouldnt you think with the 8+2 phase control this board would have very little vdroop and voltages would be spot on......
