Set to take the place of Radeon HD 4830, Radeon HD 4770 is powered by 640 stream processors, GDDR5 memory and core/memory clock of 750/800MHz (3200MHz, DDR). Thanks to the 40nm manufacturing process, AMD has managed to control the maximum TDP under 80W.

Fortunately, we’ve got hands on Radeon HD 4770 and given it a quick test. We’ve adopted Core i7 platform for the test, and the setting is the same as that in our review of 800SP Radeon HD 4830.

As we can see, Radeon HD 4770 shows a 3DMark Vantage/GPU Score of P8086/6639, compared with P8367/6891 found on HD 4850, which means HD 4770 only lags behind HD 4850 by 3.47/3.79%. If you wanna learn more about HD 4770’s gaming performance and power consumption, please pay close attention to our complete review later ..........

your really annoying you know that? your comment is completely unnecessary, the card has hit retail some places and the NDA got bumped, dont cry because AMD hasn't prepared for this discrepancy.

Biatch and moan when we see all the reviews. If there is something to biatch and moan about.

I like it reporting 2GHz core clock! We can dream now

Seriously though, I would like to see comparison between HD2900XT and new HD4770. That would show what kind of progress computer graphics is doing over the years.

Radeon HD 4770 Shows Great Overclocking Potential
Radeon HD 4770 (RV740) has implemented 40nm manufacturing process which undoubtedly brings boost in overclocking ability. Well, let’s check out how strong it is.

We continue to use Core i7 platform with the same setting as that in our review of 800SP Radeon HD 4830. AMD Catalyst Control Center is the only utility for now which enable users to adjust HD 4770’s clocks. We improved the core/memory clock as high as possible - 830/850MHz (3400MHz DDR), and then run 3DMark Vantage benchmark.

There, fixed it for you. Then you can enjoy the 100000 other games without CF/SLI support.

xfire works in everything that u would want it for (especialy with the xfire tool, on this forum), and it works in GTA4 (sli dose not). and considering the 2x 4850 beats the 285 im sure that 2x 4770 will so long as it dosnt run out of memory

I think shintai is refering to the issues CF and SLI bring to the table. I'm sure two RV4770's does beat a 285 in a many cases but It's not a pretty solution still, there's no denying that.

You can appreciate the card as it is without arguing over that.. it's cheap with great perf/watt

I'm really looking forward to this card. My 8800gt needs replacing & i think i'm going to crossfire these.

The prices of gpu's in South Africa is very high. The cheapest 4870 goes for $260, 4890 for $360, GTX260 for $360 aswell.

Would you guys rather crossfire this or get a single 4870 512MB?

I'd always go for single GPU where possible

    Depends on price!
CF is working well in 90% cases. 2 HD4770 will give you a lot better performance in these 90% cases than one HD4870. For the remaining 10% it will be within 20% of RV770 solution.
I also suspect that 2xHD4770 will still take less power in idle than one HD4870.

Shintai, you can be a very smart guy sometimes when you discuss things but that comment is just completely wrong.

-Any game can have CF support easily, even ones not released yet and even pinball.

-Most games more than 1.5years old don't need CF because its the difference between 150 fps and 200-300 fps

(I know I said the same as others, sorry if I'm a bit redundant)
