I've used Koolance fc blocks for my last three card generations and were great and keep getting better.

Ah ok so standoffs are the bits that cover the other ram bits on the card?

so its a no brainer in which block to pick.

Bundy you need standoff's on your blocks, or a lot of people on this forum WONT buy them.

We went though nightmares with the EK blocks not having standoff's, so a lot of people arent gonna repeat that mistake. Eddie even made revisions with standoff's but unfortunately, there not perfect and still giving a lot of people problems.
I believe some had problems, because of tightening the screws too much, until the bent PCB touched the block.
I believe we have to take this into our account so even the most unexperienced users can mount it easily.
So EK has started implementing standoffs into the products. Starting with 4870 GS and continuing with Acetal standoffs at 295/285/260(55nm) that can be used or not, depending to the user wishes. But I can say the experienced user can mount the block without standoff with better result.

This is the picture how the standoffs work:

older post I know put the question fits.

I recently installed my BFG-GTX295 on the Koolance VID-NX295. I'm using the thinner thermal pads as of now but I may have to change to the thicker pads because I'm getting a warp/bowing on both cards.

Has anyone had that problem with the BFG 295? I', thinking if I change out the thermal pads to the thicker ones I may not get the block/GPU contact as good as using the thinner pads?

Any recommendations, say maybe unscrewing the stand offs a bit?

    Thanks, Quels
