It's a PII so i hope it is automatically disabled... i saw this problem in another forum, and the user wrote the "TLB-bug" is active if he looks in AOD...after disabling the option in AOD the cpu was cooler and a bit better to OC (all on a DS4H)

I could not see a TLB reading in AOD or setting to change it. CrystalCpu doesn't read the phenom 2 correctly because it hasn't been updated in a while and the TLB_Disable program does not support Phenom 2 either so how did the other user check this?

You are prabably talking about AMD Boost aka CPU Tweak (on older mobos bioses). It will give some extra boost but it increases idle temps quite a lot. Though my experiences show that at least Phenom 9950 BE wont run hotter @ full load when AMD Boost is enabled. It seems to raise just the idle/partial load temps. And yes, it may affect higher clocks. My opinion is that you should search your maximum OC with boost enabled. Then try how much higher it will go without it. Then do some benches and compare the results. It could be possible that the slightly lower clocks with boost yields better results. And since the load temp doesn't rise (MAYBE it can rise about 1-2 degrees celsius)... it is your decision if you use it or not. It is so simple to toggle that it is not a big deal (open AOD, press the circle in the upper right corner, it is enabled/disabled immediately after pressing, you can see it from temps in AOD or other program)

In my case idle temps are something like:
    Boost off 27-32C / Boost on 37-40C

i never use AOD so it was my mistake...the guy said red ring around the green dot, but this means full performance (http://www.computerbase.de/bildstrecke/21202/4/), so it is automatically disabled

C&Q enabled in bios. fans auto in bios....and C&Q driver must be installed.

Windows power options need to be set to minimal power usage.

Dont use the F4A bios if you have an unlocked 720B.E, lol. Seems as though the ACC to Auto trick doesnt work anymore with this bios version. I went back to F3H

Couple of things on this bios ver, Unganged and Ganged are back, also "save a backup image of bios" option is there. Otherwise everything else is the same.

AOD acts a bit wierd. When trying to set PCIe to 100MHz, it bounces to 142MHz. 101MHz works right. For some reason PCIe was 108MHz when I managed to boot to XP first time. First boot (with OC) to XP failed (freeze) when I launched AOD. But it could be because XP was still launching programs at that point. Then I tried Win7 beta and found that PCIe speed issue. First I thought it is W7 bug but happened in XP too. Now I tried to shut down the rig from W7 and it cold booted fine with ACC, now I'm gonna try with XP.

^ I had the same issue when using AOD. I still had cold boot issues with Vista 32.

    I'm back to F3H.

Hmm... I have the same OC now, ACC +4 per core and I have cold booted few times with no issues, POST:ing time @ cold boot seems to be faster. Played a three-four last missions of COD 5 with no issues. And now I don't need AOD to set HT Link higher. But knowing this mobo... I bet tomorrow I'll have a ton of problems. I reverted to AOD 2.1.4 when I updated Catalyst drivers, and the PCIe clock problem is the same. It bounced to 150 Mhz when I tried to set it to 108. I will try to set it manually from bios to 100 and see what happens. Hopefully they'll come up with official F4.

Yes the F4a only has NB multiplier up to 9x now which is a shame but auto setting sets 10x which is ok with the high bus speed im using. It could be a problem for people using stock Bus speed though.

I was having problems with my soundcard at higher overclocks so I hope the reported sound card fix might help me but I havn't tried overclocking more yet.

I think F2 would be better for you. The F3 and F4 series seem to favour Phenom 2 and many have reported reduced overclocking results on older CPU's.

    - F2
-This BIOS works best when overclocking a Phenom I
-HT Link cannot be increased from bios. AOD can do that.
    thanks for the response
i may try it, but i really want to keep my HT link < 1050
can anyone confirm HT LINK as not working on F2 bios?

edit: well the increasing/decreasing HT LINK for athlon X2 (brisbane) does work perfectly fine
i havent really seen any ocing differences between F2 and F3 so far, but i need more time to see if i can get any higher than my 3.315ghz wall on this 5200+

another edit: finally got my 2x2gb gskill kit to run beyond ddr2-800 speeds. any other bios except F2 would never let me boot with speeds > ddr2-830
running loose at DDR2-900 and i like it.. needs more time for proper tweaking though. thanks sideeffect

I am happy with this new F4a. Haven't had problems at cold boot with ACC enabled and it hasn't really reduced my OC.

    My settings now:
    CPU 3.2GHz
    NB 2.4GHz
    HT Link 2.2GHz
    RAM 1066MHz

I have been using CPU @ 3.3 with F2, but that is so close to the edge that I use 3.2 for now. F4a can hinder OC a little bit, but it is very little. Should do some more testing.

All in all, I suggest you to try this bios. But keep an eye on the PCI-e speed.

Would you mind posting your specific overclock settings changed from default? I haven't had a chance to make a serious effort since I use my machine for work, it has to be stable, and stress testing takes time. But I have hardware matching yours and if I can get a general idea of what settings to jump to it could save me some time.
