This looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing how you are going to set up the video cards, and also how the cooling goes.

    Shazza,

That is an excellent question. I'm not sure its going to work in this case unless I use some external platform on top, like a Koolance (which I don't like).

My wife is highly against another MM/LL Cube, and that would have been the first item I would have ordered.

My idea is five single slot water blocks (EK/DD/Koolance). Tubing piped outside the case is also objectionable and not part of the aesthetic game plan. Therefore, I am highly constrained.

Solid parts for a great cause. Your photos turned out much better than you give yourself credit for.

Now the uncooked grains of rice reference...

Looks like a killer rig IanY.

BTW, the G70 is bigger than you think, you can take a look at my project, I managed to squeeze a Quad+Triple rads and I still got room for additional single Rad.
And yahh, they are all inside the case

Its a joke. Its a not-so-politically-correct play on my ethnicity. My nickname at another site is "Rice."

    Anyway, thanks for the compliments.

Thanks so much for the encouragement.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know my head from my toes when it comes to power tools and cutting/modding. You see that I bought a one-inch hole saw and yet I've been hesistent to try out on my mobo. I did try 120 mm holes on a steel case a while ago, and it was a total unmitigated disaster.

I somehow have to look towards a bigger case. My wife doesn't care what goes on the inside (and thus the five video cards lol) but how it looks on the outside matters very much.

Just interested in the board's box

Did I missread that, or does it say Japan Quality Built, VRM, 5000Hr Caps?

    5000 Hours? Thats 208 Days.

That's correct. The motherboard is disposable. The mobo is not guaranteed to operate beyond 6 months, even though the capacitors are rated for 208 days. The idea is to sell more motherboards anyway. Why would they make motherboards that last more than half a year?

heh, that's crazy 208 day's. Even if they were used in an office environment I'm sure they want them to last longer then 10 months.

Good to see that arsenal of graca's put to good use.

Why would you want to keep using the same computer for more than 3 months? The X68 would probably be available then.

Look: Here's the marketing propaganda. Do I believe in it? No way. Do I believe its 5000 hours? Not that either. Take it for whatever its worth. Its marketing gibberish.

A capacitor made in Bagladesh or Ethopia can be much much higher quality than one made in Japan, if the infrastructure is in place. Venue is inconsequential. I just love box marketing. The geek who came up with the "5,000 hour" buzz phrase should consult with the marketing folks first lol

Even electrolyte capacitors should work for 20.000 hours when beaten with high heatload, can't imagine solid state ones doing at least 3 times that amount.
For some reason putting the 5000hrs on the box fails to make me understand their marketing.

Anyways, Looks like a nice motherboard, although I don't think I personally would give ASUS any more money then needed.
    Their support is atrocious.

Classified coming for me too buddy

Probably use the flow over 285s because water cooling in this one is impossible. And that one will probably be in another G70B, or a TJ07

    Naekuh,

    Its coming

I had that setback with the power supply being DOA. The new one hasn't arrived yet, and everything is in disarray because of a silly PSU.

I'm struggling with the water cooling. It seems that I have plans to squeeze a radiator into every nook and cranny, and yet its only barely good enough for just the cpu.

The problem is the PC-G70B case and all the nonsense I usually stuff into a case. Anything MM or LL cube is totally out of the question. Not about cost. Its about what is permissible.

So far, I have plans for one stacked MCR220, one regular MCR220, one PA120.1 and maybe one MCR120. No matter how you twist it, its not good enough to cool three video cards, let alone five video cards. I'm fighting the urge to just get a Koolance EXOS 2.5.. that would be the easy way out... with an aluminum radiator. I have no other viable options.

Then there's the issue of video blocks, and i need five of them and they must be single slot. There's the Koolance for $99, the EK for about $125, the Danger Den for $145(why?!?) and the XSPC which I wouldn't touch. The EVGA is out, but it doesn't look single slot to me.

As far as SSD, the only modl that impresses me is the intel X25-Extreme (not the X25-M). That is Extreme Dinero as well... I believe $800 for 32 GB.

What is this about a dead HX-1000? I ordered one from the Egg at roughly the same time you did and now I am concerned that my HX might be hosed.

Enough about my concerns...when are you going to strip those GPU's of their stock coolers? I gotta see thos cards with their shiney new clothes.

I'll strip those cards, and then some more, once I have determined that I can watercool in that silly G70B case.

I can't get a MM because my wife would tie me to a stake, Bobbitize me, and then tie me to the top of a bridge to dry out. And then she would probably enshrine my removed anatomy in a windowed MM case with UV CCFLs lol

You hear me? I'm being forced into using a Koolance EXOS 2.5 system, complete with aluminum radiator. I have no other appealing options. Zalman Reserator is the alternative.

If I cannot water cool the video cards, then forget it. I'm leaving them stock air cooled. As for the additional video cards, just build another system. Isn't it sad? Its cheaper to build a second system with a 965 EE and Intel Extreme SSDs than to water cool (5xvideo blocks+two pumps+three rads+bling fittings+new case = $3000, at least).

Anyway, I was totally crushed and beyond upset that the Corsair I receive wouldn't start. +5VSB defective. Oh yeah... who's to say that the Corsair can support any more than three video cards? BTW, I found the blue plastic modular connectors a little plasticky and honestly cheapish feeling. My only attractions to it is that (1) its cheap and (2) its supposed to be quiet (at least compared to a PCP&C 1200w). I ain't buying an Impervio-made Silverstone Zeus... it used to be Estasis! At least the Corsair is a Channel Well.

I also wished I have someone around me to help me cut up my case. I have holesaws, and perhaps jigsaws and/or dremels. What I don't have is skill, granted I mutilated old steel cases that were next to impossible to work with.

iany you can always do what andy did.

get a pedistool 24, and use that for your water stuff, and have it sit next to your lian li which would hold everything else.
