    DFI DK X58-T3eH6 on Test

DFI's latest mid range X58 motherboard, the LANParty DK X58-T3eH6 aims to hit the market at under £200, making it one of the most affordable X58 boards yet. As with all DFI boards, it's fully laden with features, but isn't kitted out with a load of features you'll never use. The features are very similar to it's more expensive big brother, the UT-X58-T3eH8 , but this one has a hybrid PWM section as opposed to the fully digital Volterra set up on the more expensive model.

Very nice, that living review is extremely well done. For a second I thought no one on XS cared about this mobo. I just finished assembling my comp with this mobo 2 days ago so your posting here is quite timely .

Thanks, yes it's unusual not to see a thread on a new DFI board up already, my turn to be first I guess
Be interested to see how you get on. This is my first DK , so far I'm i'm impressed.

Does it come out of sleep properly at that BCLK?

    Can you go to x21?

no only in turbo when not all cores are loaded. 920 normal multi is maxed at 20.

I have yet to get around to doing much fiddling with this mobo due to school and friends but, I should have something tomorrow. Heh, I have been lazy and haven't even finished building it. I had a LAN party at my house and not even 1/3 of my fans or my power button is hooked up . Do you have any tips for me that might be useful as this is my first OC experience with Core i7 or Intel DFI mobos.

    Also, what does SuperVid do?

The Clocking, Benches Observations and Bios settings Section >=24 has full bios settings to crib from.
    General advise I guess :-
    1. Your vdimm and cpu vtt should stay within 0.5v of eachother if possible
    2. Keep Uncore Frequency X2 that of Dram Frequency. so for example
      RAM Frequency: BCLK*08 MHz
      Uncore Frequency: BCLK*16 MHz
The Bios automatically adjusts Uncore if you increase memory multi, but doesn't work if you decrease memory multi.
    3. QPI bus needs to be set to the lowest it'll go, its auto by default, but for maybe >=200, you will need to set it to 4800gt/s
    4. hyperthreading and turbo mode will effect your clocks the higher you go, I've managed 210x20 ok but if going further you may need to disable them.

    Still exploring SuperVID

Hmmm, well I tried OCing last night and I seem to be encountering something rather unexpected. For whatever reason I can't get past 170 BCLK. I can do 170 BCLK completely stable but anything over that and I get no post. My mem is completely stable at those speeds and higher but I dropped the divider and timings just to be sure. I have the QPI bus set to 4800GT/S setting (18x multi right?) but I have a crackpot theory that it is actually set at the 22x multi since that hits the 4ghz limit. The rest of the settings are pretty much identical to your's Supershanks.

    Any help?

At 170 tou should be fine with QPI bus on auto.

I was able to run at BCLK of 180 with everything else at auto, was my 1st shot.

Alright I will try all auto and see if that fixes the problem.

    UPDATE:
Ok I tried all auto settings and the issue persists. I also tried auto with only voltage adjusted but no go on that as well. 170 BCLK is 100% stable but above that no post.

This is a seriously weird problem.

Aeneon 1600mhz 3x2gb ram. I know this is pretty crap for OCing but it should be more than fine for the speed and latencies I am running it at.

This is quite baffling to me as I have tried every conceivable thing to get it above 170mhz. I might try an older bios to see if that helps.

UPDATE: Tried playing around with a different bios but no luck, it still won't post past 170 BCLK.

    Voltage Measuring Point

    Voltage Measuring Points
Couldn't be simpler, the same as it's more expensive big brother the DFI Lanparty UT X58-T3eH8 So another big plus for this board, the key measuring points you need in an easy access position.

    Note:
If you don't know what you're doing, please
DO NOT go poking around with a DMM, you will probably kill your board - Niether Clunk.org.uk or Xtreme Systems will take any responsibility for any loss or damage as a result of using this information.

Still pondering your issue , it does seem odd.
Can''t think of too much offhand , any chance of putting your current settings in the Bios Template and posting it ?
Maybe we can see what issue is.
