Are those plastic (or even delrin) standoffs with double sided tape?
I bet that saves a lot of cost for copper machining![]()

Friend: Do you have a spare PSU lying around?
Me: No why?
Friend: My PSU just blew up, I think the second 8800GTX might have been too much for it to handle
Me: what PSU was that again?
Friend: Antec 480w
Me:........
I don't have a GTX285, but I just wanted to say that this is outstanding considering the things just came out not that long ago. I don't know if they had access to one of these cards before release (not everyone does), but even if they did, that's still very fast on design, and getting them machined.
Way to go EK!![]()
Very nice! And a bigfrom me for including standoffs!
Yet another sexy block from EK![]()
i5 2500K @ 4.9GHz+ 8GB G-Skill RipJaws DDR3-2000 @1600Mhz CAS 6 Asus P8P67 Pro CrossFire 6970's @ 950/1450
Xeon X5677 @ 4.5Ghz 6GB G-Skill RipJaws DDR3-2000 @1600Mhz CAS 7 Gigabyte EX58-UD5 4870x2
i7-880 @ 4.2Ghz+ (still playing) 4GB G-Skill RipJaws DDR3-2000 @2300Mhz CAS 9 Asus Maximus III Formula MSI Hawk 5770
I wish EK would make an all copper one.
I know water doesn't run through the aluminium and it cools sufficiently but it just screams cheap to me and I don't care for it.![]()

Assuming a straight conversion, these will be around 120 bucks. No clue what they will actually cost when the etailers get them.
You mean the nickel coated copper?, lolI like Ek blocks and would buy one if not for the aluminum.
ek doesnt make alumi blocks
Win7 64 Ultimate
i7 930 - 4200mhz 24/7 - Dtek v2
ASUS P6X58D-E
2 x MSI 6970's xfire

SilverStone ZM1200w psu
2 x 300gb WD Velociraptors Raid 0, 4TB storage
PS3-used mostly for bluray and media server
I would have liked a full copper block like the GTX 280 and 4870x2 blocks but I'm sure it would have increased the costs.
The power regulation part is aluminum.
"High performance VGA water block for GeForce 285 GTX refference design series graphic cards. Base is made of nickel-plated electrolytic copper. Top is made of quality acrylic glass. The sealing is preformed by quality rubber washer. Block is mounted with enclosed M2,5 screws. Additional pšart for mosfet cooling is made of black anodizated aluminum."
does the 285 require a backside cooler like the 260s and 280s? Will EK be making coolers for that too?
so there's no ram chips on the back side? or any heat generating components on the back? I just want to be clear.
