Modified UniSink for GTX260 55nm

When comparing one card to the other, the differences become abundantly apparent; not only does the 55nm card have a shim around the IHS but the PCB itself is slightly longer by a few millimeters and there is a distinct “bulge” in it closer to the rear. There are also noticeable differences in the power distribution and voltage regulation sections due to the different electrical needs of the new core.

For those of you wondering; the mounting holes around the core are the same on the new card are as the outgoing product. Therefore, any compatible heatsinks or non-full coverage water blocks should fit without a problem. However, full cover water blocks will not be compatible due to the different layout of the VRMs.

I want to watercool my GTX260 55nm and it will probably be some time before a compatible hardmounted heatsink will be avaliable.

I was thinking about taking a D-Tek UniSink:


Or a Swiftech GTX200 Heatsink:


If I saw off the VRM end of the heatsink, the rest of the heatsink will still cover the memory and that single IC fine. Then, I could then use a few RAMsinks for the remaining VRM. Does this sound reasonable?

Does anyone know if the D-Tek UniSink has raised area for each memory module or is it just a thermal pad?

Does anyone have a picture of the Swiftech GTX200 heatsink bottom?

You'd have more luck looking at some Full cover Blocks for the 9800 GX2 instead. LOL

it has thermal pads glued to the heatsink. you might be able to remove them, and replace them. your main problem is mounting holes.

if your going the MCW60 route, your easiest option is just to strap on enzotech sinks.

Some acetone will get thermal pads offs. All the mounting holes are identical (so says the article) except for the one near the RAM in the corner. I can just Dremel it down. There are enough mounting points for pressure.

Enzotech sinks may not fit under the WB fitting and 3-5 memory ICs may not get a heatsink. Plus I generally hate soft-mounting since they have a tendency to fall off. I can cut an old aluminum heatsink to cover the VRM and softmount it becuase I have to...

Enzo has shorties that fit under the barbs and they have much better adhesive than the older Swiftech's.

Not much.

Couldn't say myself. I don't have a set and I don't use fatty tubing. Give it a little time, I'm sure someone who's been here a while will chime in with an answer. If your really desperate, you can poke through the old gallery and see if you can spot that combo, maybe start around page 200.

about a month ago when i saw the pix of the new rev gtx260 card,i emailed dtek asking about a new unisink,but oddly enough never heard a word back.
in the end i picked up a gtx280 anyway!!

Iandh is getting a GTX260 55nm so maybe he'll make one. It usually takes the companies 1-3 months before they get UniSinks out.
