This is what the BOINC benchmark looks like in the task manager on my QX9650. It runs a short burst on all 4 cores and then another short burst on core 0. I'd be curious as to what it does on an I7 with HT enabled. I had a feeling this issue of "overclaiming" would come up with I7 since the BOINC benchmark is not set up to deal with virtual cores.

Have you tested the rig with any of the single redundancy projects like FAAH Dave? IIRC points are claimed and awarded via a small benchmark run within each work unit. I would think the claim/award ratio would be much better if the bench is run with all 8 cores crunching.

Just been running the HCC project due to preference and continuity on the numbers so I'd get a decent "feel" for what the machine is doing.
The benchmarks between HT enabled and disabled are very small.. maybe 100-150 difference..
The key to see what the real power is when you disable HT and run 4 WU.
It does those in app 2 hours 25 minutes.
    That's at 3733mhz.
My Q6600 at 3600 does the same WU in just under 3 hours, like 2 hours 57 minutes..
With HT enabled it does 8WU in 4 hours 20-25 minutes but I think it is working "harder" as temps between HT enabled are a solid 6C higher..

Oops, I forgot to upload the screenshot...lol! It's up there now. When you run the benchmark with HT enabled, does it load up all 8 cores during the initial burst, or only the 4 real cores?

Lol, those Corsair mems look exactly like the 256MB DDR Platinum sticks I paid a fortune for in 2001. That's right, 3500C2 mems.. handpicked Winbond BH-5
And they still run today, now that was quality hardware.

You wanna talk about shooting the wallet.

    *looking at my wallet*

I dont think ive been so poor since my freshman year in college. :\

Hera is seriously killing me financially.

I think i understand what you old ST people went though, and why you wanted to sell it at one point in time.

The financial commitment for one of these monster classes, is just outragous.

    :\

Have you looked at the buildlog for PrometheusCu? WELL over 10k on just a C2Q setup.

Get into modding, and then wonder why you're broke. Why else do we seek sponsors so often? That money tree in the backyard is misleading, I haven't gotten any money from it yet. Just these funny white seed pods.

/goes to find an AC supplier...

koolancedean said he would sponsor my ST II rig with 2 koolance blocks.
Ima throw it on to make them happy, if they perform great, keep them, if there on par, keep them, if they have a hugh performance cut, then recycle them on my sossoman setup.

Bei Fei is commited in making me my STII board blocks.
Extra Hardware already bought. I am even tempted to throw both a HD4870X2 AND 9800GX2 on the same board and run each monitor off each card.

Other then that, dude, the hardware cost is killing me.
My chiller is still being built and i havent finished paying for that even, let alone the st2 board. if and when i can get one. :\

Dont know what kills me more, having chips and no board, or not having anything at all.. or holding a nda and not being allowed to speak of anything at all.

Been in all 3 situations and they all SUCK!

Might be, Nehalem implementation in Real Temp is apparently still a work in progress so who knows. As long as it's under 100C it'll be okay.

What application is reporting 61C on yours? Or is that BIOS temp?

Seriously water is the way to go with these. They run hotter than the 45nm Yorkies and need the added edge of water cooling.
I think 4000 for 24/7 work is possible with water and as soon as I can afford the parts I'm going that way.
