    Asus z7s ws Build

So here is the Semi-Final build with a few pictures.

    Specs
    Motherboard : Asus z7s WS (Bios Rev:401)
CPU: Intel Xeon x5450 3.0ghz Quad core X2
    Memory: Dell DDR2 FBDIMM 667 8gb ram( 2x 4gb sticks)
Video card: ATI 1900gt (next on list to change)
    Cooling: Swifttech Dual 120mm rad.
    Thermaltake Single 120mm Rad.
    Koolance 301 CPU water blocks
    Thermaltake Ram Coolers (Passive)
    Case: Thermaltake Armour Series case

once i get it burned in, and running stable, the overclocking will begin. The thermaltake Case , i must say is the best case i have used in a long time. It droped my 45C Motherboard temp to 35C and it never budges from that.
CPU 1 stays from 38c to 45C under load, but cpu2 has jumped as high as 65c and i had to kill the stress test to save it. The second rad. for that cpu doesnt have a fan yet .. once i get a fan on it, ill see if the temps stablize..

As for the OS, i am running a Dual boot Config. 2Sata 250gb HDD for Windows Vista x64 and 2 Sata 250GB HDD for Leopard OSX with a 1TB storage drive to swap between the 2.

Here are some quick pictures of the almost completed rig, i took these last night at 12am, so ill get better ones soon.

Nice build , I like that rad at the bottom.

I'm at 440x9 =3960Mhz with my E5450's. Aircooled that is
Those 667 Fb-dimms could be hindering your overclock.

    this

as far as that 65* goes....something is definately wrong there since you are water cooled. i've never even hit that with my X5460's stock heat sinks OC'd to 3.8Ghz

No fan so the water will continue to heat up and the radiator won't be able to radiate the heat without airflow. Wait till he gets some fans on the second radiator

ok, moved one of the 120 mm fanes to other radiator, had some problem then i noticed, i only screwed down once side of the damn heat sink, so it was not making full contact with cpu.. so straightened that out, seems to work alot better except for 1 minor thing, and i think it is The PC probe software.. it said that cpu was running at 147c for 4 seconds and it keeps telling me Vcore voltage is out of tolarnce ant 0.0.. if that were true, the pc would shut down.. time to find better temp and monitoring software..

thanks, i just ran a Cinbench10 and got 26685 on multicore rendering... gonna tweak out all the bugs, but seems to run pretty stable. i just wish i could lower the TEMPS a bit more.. gonna have to try some experiments... its the damn Southern Louisiana weather... lol..

next step, find a water cooler and tear it apart salvage the parts from it.. and make a chiller..

Nice build! With a chiller, those clocks could soar. One question about your case though- does that side-panel fan get in the way?

found a headache with this system.. so i have 4 250 Sata hdds, and 1 TB sata hdd and also a Sata DVD-rw.. perfect , i got 6 slots.. nope wrong, once you active raid, you lose the dvd-rw... so i cant install windows.. then i get an idea, hey i hve this IDE dvdrom , lets install from there.. wrong.. error during install.. seems to me like this dvdrom cant read a section on the disk, it fails to copy over , i installed windows from sata drive not 3 hours before on another hdd...

i am trying right now to make a pen drive install disk.. we will see how that goes.. man raid can be a pain in the ass..

You have to plug the SATA DVD in before the RAID HDDs, like into sata 1. Somehow it stops looking for drives as soon as it has found its raid, lol. Bios is still pretty buggy.

And remember, stay clear of the version 9 chipset drivers, they up the raid 0. Stick with the 8,6 from the Asus CD.

Jcool, you would happen to know what NB and SB chipset coolers(aftermarket) would work on this mobo. I want a copper sink instead of this heat pipe aluminum. It can have fans, noise doesnt bother me, i have both my ati cards at 100 percent fan control on...

Thermalright makes a chipset cooler that works well. Noctua's NH-U6 works but is very hard to install.
