Anyone here who knows about AC Adapters?

    Ave,

Alright I have this External Enclosure --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817193040

I need a replacement AC Adapter that works with this External Enclosure. The only specs that I could get for the AC Adapter are this:

Power Source: External Universal Switching Power Adapter (5V/12V 2.0A)
    Power Input: 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz
    Certification: FCC, CE Certified

Can you tell me where I can find a cheap adapter that will work properly for this External Enclosure. Eagletech will sell me one for $15. I'm wondering if I can find one cheaper somewhere. The whole Enclosure costs only $24 so I know they're ripping me off asking $15 for the adapter.

    Thanks!

Check out Radio Shack, they have universal adapters you can buy, but have no idea on the prices.

    Excellent!! I'll check out Wal-mart.
Basically if I take along the information I printed above with me, I just need to find something that says similar, right?

    Thanks Guys!

You don't need to take the info with you. Those things have multiple settings so you need to adjust the settings similar to what you already have.

Make sure that you adjust these correctly: output (9V or 12V etc.) and polarity (+,-) or (-,+) otherwise it won't work.

You can use the adapter for more than one device as long as you find the correct settings.

Guys, that's a switching power supply - I have the exact unit. It says output is 12v at 4A and shows both a solid line and dotted line next to this spec. I think that means intermittent DC right?

Anyway, hooking up a straight 12v ac/dc converter probably won't do the job and/or will fry the electronics. Also, anything that puts out more than 1A is going to be more expensive than a universal adapter anyway.

I'm no expert, but if the manufacturer could get away with a cheap 12v continuous dc power supply, I'm sure they would.
