It's also a lot lighter, no chance of acrylic cracking, and no potential for warping the card. Cools only what's needed so it doesn't add extraneous heat to your loop too.
Wow! I couldn't have said it ANY better, seriously. This deserves a reward. If you are in the US, you just earned yourself a 20% discount off (1) MCW60-4870; if you are outside the US, then we'll do free shipping.

Well that's no good, I need (2) for crossfire. Discount doesn't matter to me too much. Could I just buy two and get them direct shipped to me from the factory? Emailed.

It's not as cut and dry as "looks good or not."

The 4870 version looks more like an apogee gt or ek supreme with the pin design than any of the FC blocks. The FC block makers cut slits into the copper and called it a day. The original MCW60 was also a winner when it came to cooling performance and the 4870 is based on that design.

Remember what cathar said, XS is about performance first and foremost. Not just blinginess. Bling is just icing on the cake.

Meh, i got the EK nickle and would have got this instead if it was available.
My 4870 has enough pitch in it now that any leaks will run towards the outside front end of the case. lol

No idea. I'm still waiting on the 4870 version. Can't wait any longer.

It's a feature. You know... harness the power of a waterfall for extreme cooling of your video card.

I whas hoping for a solution where you can use your excisting MCW-60 to cool the HD4870.

It's a shame that you guys from Swiftech produced a light version from a full cover block

That's how I see it, because the concept of the MCW-60 is that you can take that block
to every new card thats coming out. The only thing you will have to do for the block
to fit on the new card is to buy a mounting plate.

Now I will have to buy a 90 dollar solution for my HD4870 and at the same time I've got
    2! MCW-60 catching dust in a box

gabe 90 dolllars is wishing for too much.

I know im not in a possition to discuss cost with you, but hear me out.

XSPC which are full cover cost only 80 dollars. The trend why people went core only was because of the main value in cost.

A core only package costing more then the a full card package is a financial suicide gabe. :\
FC blocks also have bling. :X

Expecially when your gonna get max Overclock on any card even on AIR unless you volt mod.

$60 is more like it. It's an MCW60 (~$45) with extended plates and a heatsink.

Well I finally have 2 of them on the way now. If you call swiftech up you can order them over the phone/email. I don't know if they'd like everyone ordering that way but it seems like they're available.

I think $90 is reasonable... not the bargain of the century but given the alternatives, I'd rather have the swiftech solution. I'm fully confident that it'll cool the cores better than a FC block. It has to. That matrix of pins is going to be better than plain old slits any day. Plus it won't dump extra heat into the loop cooling things that don't need to be cooled.

We'll see how they work when I get them. I can't imagine being disappointed.

im not doubting the performance behind it. I know what the MCW60 can do, i have 3, and 1 even moded off a ApogeeGT base. We knew about this a while back.
