well they aren't D9 - definitely have "feet"
and... I found out why the 1 kit just doesn't work - the IC's were pulled off the PCB by the heatspreader at some point in time - I'm going to put the screws to the seller on this one
AVOID the Patriot DDR2-9200 kits if you are looking for D9's - even if they say 2.3v they aren't for sure the real deal

Well, the 9600 kit should be D9: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220282
well here is the non D9 PC2-9200 kit in action at 2.1v

Where do you see 2.1V? That says 2.3V, as does Patriot's website: http://www.patriotmemory.com/product...&id=665&type=1

Well it may have to eat those words: http://forum.coolaler.com/showthread.php?t=176172
It appears at least some of the Kingston HyperX 9200 with the new heat spreaders is D9GKX, but some is Elpida as I suspected: http://forum.coolaler.com/showpost.p...7&postcount=24

Those are D9GKX according to the ramlist.
Dee said the Reaper 8500s were no longer D9, but how about the 9200s?

I think patriot and some other vendors included aren't updating the voltage spec on their products and as overclockers looking for something we'll believe what we want
I did that with my 2.3v PC2-9200 kit and I would suggest avoiding the 9600 Patriot kit as well - gone are the days when D9's were the only stuff that would hit 8500++ (I miss those days to an extent)
I'm a firm believer that OCZ isn't using D9's on those Reaper 9200 kits
If I can get my power chip sticks to hit 1200 I'm sure the MFGs can as well in the factory

OCZ Reaper PC2-9200 & PC2-9600 are no longer D9 chips. The maximum voltages are 2.1v. I am having trouble getting the PC2-9600 stable over 1069MHz. I guess I will go back to my Team Xtreem's.

i wouldnt be able to tell, and not willing to pull them out of my system just yet to verify. but after speaking with patriot themselves, they claim the black viper fin 9600s are micron d9s.
However, only tested with 680i and p35 chipsets for compatilibity.
but d9's are rampage qvl!!!
anyways, i finished superpi at 1081mhz, strap 333. Attempted strap 400 to make 1199mhz, froze.
what voltage controls the strap, northbridge right? i got that at 1.6v rite now (real).

Why not first try with a lower FSB like 400 and easy 3:2 divider on the memory?
I found a kit of Patriot 9600 on ebay - it was the older style heat spreaders and is supposedly new - another roll of the dice on some patriot for less than $60

OCZ & Patriot, yuk. IMO get some decent ram at least if your going to spend money. Neither company ever made decent D9 kits anyway.

yeah... but i've gone through enough burnt out Ballistix to be sick to my stomach - haven't liked OCZ in DDR2 as I did in DDR1 but they did put out some decent stuff - I'm more worried about costs vs chips - next step is cellshock for the slight premium
pissed the red kits are gone now
