Sorry Jack, I was home for the second time in 15 years in August. Place I got mine from is HPM Computer in Germany. Very fast, (next day) and courteous...something you don't always find in Europe. Sorry to rant but I hate e-tailers that say yup...in stock....yup...your order has shipped...and then after you email them a week later with " WTheF is my order??" you get the "ahhhhh its out of stock...maybe in 2 weeks" I'm currently choked at a German manufacturer of SB blocks and an Italian who makes Bench Tables!! Anyhow, for a 4 Gb kit its not too bad, very happy infact...I find it likes going up but I'm having a heck of a time under 1850. Might snag an Nvidia board and see if there is a difference. My first time with water and boy...what a difference. I'm typing at you now @ 5 ghz & running OCCT and the NB is 27 DEGREES!!! EK NB, 2 EK Chipset with a Feser 480!

    Nice stuff, dude!

    Really nice!

Anyway, your RAM is an indication that there is definitely potential in this board for 2x2 kits at high speeds, once the bios gets sorted.

Thanks Run, i'm still trying to master all settings in bios but it takes forever to have 'm all tested and see how they influence the oc.

Yesterday i messed with Dram skew and Dram reference voltage trying to bring Vddr down a tad or two but ended up with the auto setting that performed best.

I'm also finding that auto is working best for me. I finally got my system to run prime 95 and I'm on hour 11. I purchased budget priced ram and found the wall it put me against. The best I can get now is 4250 with 8.5 x 500 for a rated fsb of 2000. The ram is running at 800. I would like to get a couple of sticks of the CSX Diablo.

Yeah, the auto settings on this board seem to do a darn fine job.

I think 13K across the board for everest was just 2 clicks of setfsb away but i was pushing for a nice SuperPi 1M time then.

In between the 1M runs i ran everest, only to find write was 50mb short of 13K later.

Oh well, will try soem more later.

Impressive stuff zeus I'm guessing vdimm 2.2v is just for a bench run?

Agree about auto settings. As i say the only ones out of the ordinary that have been really needed for me are the vrefs.

A few questions to you folks.

    1. Apparently when switching on the PSU the power light is supposed to flash three times then stop. Mine doesn't. It only stops when I push it to power on/boot. As a matter of caution I leave it to flash about 5 times, and then push it. Do others here have this issue or not?

    2. Error! The cpu core to bus ratios or Vid config has failed!.
I get this message everytime I cold boot. The system powers up fans for a split second, stops then boots to this error message. I need to F1 enter setup, F10 save and exit, and then it boots fine.

I've tried all sorts to try a pin point the issue, but can't seem to find a solution. Even taking it back to stock settings. This happens in both bios 0201 and 0601.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks RLM.

Yes 2.2V is for benching only, using 2.04V for daily use DDR1800 7-6-5-16 1T. with a Dominator ramcooler over the ram.

I just checked mine but my powerled isn't flashing at all, only the illuminated ROG logo on the heatpipe assembly keeps blinking, not the powerled.

As for the error you're getting, i've never seen that once.

My board stopped seeing two of my cores the other day. I thort I fried two of my cores since I am still on stock cooling, waiting for wc parts to be delivered. After going back and forth in BIOS now and again I would see 4 cores and then next reboot two. It has been on four cores now for at least 1/2 dozen reboots and I am using 601. I wonder if it is the MB or CPU, any ideas?

    Thanks for checking. Appreciated.

I had the same on the P5E3 Deluxe with that Error message, but not on the 790i. Very odd. If anyone else is getting this maybe with a QX I would like to know.

As for the blinking power light, again puzzled. I know someone else mentioned their's blinked all the way into the OS fully booting. Their board died shortly after. I will check mine with a new PSU maybe tomorrow.

I want to confirm my board is okay, before I think about prepping it for phase.

It's one of those things. you either need to check the cpu in another board, or another cpu in your board. If you don't have the spares, maybe take it in somewhere to get it checked.

Well did another google Re: Error! The cpu core to bus ratios or Vid config has failed!.

Found some posts on a UK overclocking forum

I also have a slight problem with this board if anyone knows the answer?

When I cold bood I get this message "Error! The CPU to Bus ratio or VID configuration has failed" although if I F1 and exit and carry on into windows the pc is 100% stable, just this message at the beginning of every cold boot. I can't seem to find a fix for it and its anoying me. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Another persons answer, which I can't verify

Its a bug with most of the ROG Asus boards, My Rampage Extreme does it aswell if i turn off the power at the wall. Leaving the board powered seems to be the only fix at the moment.
Not sure what to make of that.

I have spent a good hour or so trying to get rid of the error, but no joy. It's also something you don't want to be testing repeatedly, turning the PSU off an ON loads of times.

    PFN list corrupt bluescreen.

Is that likely a RAM thing?

I've been running at 500 FSB with 3.0GHz on the CPU (Stock cooling) and the RAMZ at 1200MHz and it passed Orthos Small and Blend 8 hours as well as two hours Memtest86+

I'll have to do some more stability testing on the RAM, I guess.

Well did another google Re: Error! The cpu core to bus ratios or Vid config has failed!.
Am also getting this error message when using the QX9650. But never had it when on the E8600. It is really annoying.
Was able to do this on the E8600 but the NB temps is already at 67c (on air).... http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/p...0TPC/temp2.jpg
Stock cooling already taken off replaced with some Thermalright sinks....

    Alright, passed 600% overnight.

    Is that enough?

I've tested my RE today, seems quite ok for that poor ram.

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=427993
    all settings @ auto
    vnb @ auto: 1,41v

    except:
    vcore: 1,475v
    llc: disabled
    spectrums: disabled
    temps:
    nb@load: 1,41v // 30°c
    cpu@load: 1,47v // 48 46 46 48°c

hope that my 2 atis will arrive soon to have some gaming tests ^^

Hey guys... not been around for a bit, as ive not had much time to play with my RE. However, back to it now, and its going pretty well. It certainly uses much less voltage than any of my previous boards.

    Here is my latest overclock - QX9650 456x9 4.1ghz 1.36v Prime stable:

A slightly better everest read (p95 not running at the same time):

My CPU is doing great, but memory remains an issue. Cant get it to clock with the FSB, hence the low speed. Ive managed to get it up to 1780mhz memtest stable, but it still BSOD's when entering windows. No doubt is cos im running 2x2gb, but i havnt finished tweaking yet.

If any of u have any ideas... let me know!

what are your settings for 500FSB RAM 1:2.
Because my Board doesn´t boot over 410FSB with the 1:2 dividier.
    I have the same Config. E8600 and 2x2GB CSX Diablos DDR3 2000.
