Much needed addition to the UN line up. Petra has had this up on his site for about a week now IIRC.

Question: Those 2 posts in the middle, are they permanently fixed to the H piece or are they simply bolts with cap nuts, so I can move them around along that row of holes?

There fixed to match hole spacing in my brackets. I would also be concerned that they could come loose and protrude into the fan if I didn't make them fixed.

unfortunately they were made for my brackets. Because the bracket sits directly on the fan I didn't want the head of the bolt sticking into the fan. I could probably make a few without the studs in the next batch if anybody wanted to mount something different.

nice. as said before, the more options the better. finding a way to mount watercooling parts was always my biggest issue with water cooling. not once have i ordered a water cooling part and upon arrival said,,,, oh sweet! the mounting bracket that came with this will work perfect!

my biggest issue is always rad mounting though. i'd love if i could actually mount everything without have to mod the case at all, or mount a rad externally.

my bad.. Why not use flat head recessed screws? But a nice bevel on it, sits nice and flush.

the screws would work but to make them completly flush I would have to countersunk each hole. Because it's sheetmetal there's not a whole lot of thickness to countersink. The threaded inserts are pressed into the metal making them very flush and really strong. Remember these are Rev.1 pieces so I will take all feedback seriously for future revisions.

What are those extra holes for anyway?

Anyway, maybe you can leave the 8 middle holes as is (not countersunk) and just include washers and longer screws for the corners, so bolt heads can clear the fan. Flexibility is nice, we can apply locktite ourselves if we're really worried about nuts coming loose. Should help you cut costs as well by skipping the threaded inserts.

The extra holes are cosmetic, however they are spaced the same as the mounting holes. I tried a washer to space it out but rejected that idea based on the amount of effort required to mount the bracket and the washers. I'm not ruling it out but I feel there is a better way to achieve what I want to do.

I agree that flexibility would be nice. Both the Absolute and the 3G brackets have multiple holes to mount to so that is where you can play around with positioning. I did test with both a D5 and a DDC and the positioning was right on.

I see now that people might want to use this to mount other things to so I will take all feedback and see what I can come up with.

Keep your suggestions coming I really do appreciate it. You guys are my customers so I really want to hear from you.

    I hate you :banana::banana::banana:S!

i had to try it cuz i loved the concept.

Dave i have one tweek on request. I wanted to make the foot print smaller from going off the side so i mounted it behind my rad. Well problem now is the clearance as shown:

Problem is if i use ANY other rad besides the GTS , i run out of space as shown. Can you possibly make an attachment? or make the leg a little bit longer so it would clear a GTX class radiator?

Dave i got both your stuff. The 120 fan attachment and the rev. UN Design.

Well I never expected anyone to mount it like that! That's pretty cool. I can see how you would run out of room. Can you take a better pic so I can see how the Z-Bracket is mounted, specifically the standoffs? I don't think many people will mount it that way but I am sure I can help you out. Give me some more pics so I can see it better. Thanks.

Will try, mom decided to borrow my camera today without asking.

Basically i used the top end mount on the lower fan mount behind the rad. Put shock absorbers on the bottom end and let torque hit the wall.

Needed the unit as portable as possible. Having a pump protrude from the side defeats the portability part. Also id be nevous as heck in nocking it unconsciencely and snapping my fan and rad in half :X

Tried it the proper way and the leg arm is too long. :T this was the only compromise i could see of.

Personally I'm for screwing the fan onto a basic fan guard like so:

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...d.php?t=190102

I've done the same to my currently assembled but missing the case to put it in pump and it looks like it'll work a charm.
I've also got rubber washers that came with the DDC holding it to the fan grill which has a TFC rubber gasket before the fan which will probably be placed on another rubber gasket before hitting the case so I'm hoping most vibrations will be absorbed.

problem with that is that pump needs to be horizontal.
