    New (UN)Designs Pump Bracket

just saw this newfangled "Z" bracket, for mounting a Laing pump in a 120mm. fan hole. (You need one of their other brackets to attach to it.)

Freaking smart! Oh man.. so many people now can mount their pumps on the inside of a 120mm front intake. AND have it cooled (DDC users extra happy I guess)

Errr... sorry to sound like R3, but lots of folks have been using Mountain Mods HDD carriers to mount DDC with Alphacool tops for years

Yes but now its any top, with any existing 120mm hole spacing.

So about $36+shipping to mount a pump to a fan... Seems like a large expense to me for a pump mount. I guess it's always nice to have options though.

That's what I have been doing.

20 bucks for two threw MM. Roughly 70 for two UN mounts.

Why would you need two for a single pump?

"With the New Z-Bracket you can mount the (UN) 3G or Absolute brackets wherever there is a 120mm fan. The Z-Bracket is compatible with any (UN)Designs brackets including the older revisions."

So you have to buy that along with another bracket to hold the pump. This product is a bracket to hold a bracket.

Why they didn't just make a standalone piece is beyond me.

    It was simple- Cost.
Most of the people who asked me to make this bracket
already had an existing bracket. I could sell the whole thing and I more than likely will but I wanted to get this out to the people who asked me for it. This one is for the people who already have a bracket but still want an option. If you look at Zaskars build you can see the whole bracket. That one will be coming out soon. Hope this clears it up. Any questions ask away.. By the way each shop has discretion to price the bracket as they want but if you look around you will find it for less....

not if you need to mount it right in the middle of a fan hole.

Trust me, fan mounting styles will only get more popular now that things are getting bigger. Like Radiators, and pump configs.

People should have choices to mount there pumps
with whatever top they want and wherever they want
and I know for a fact that R3 used my 3G brackets on his latest build....remember the more choices available the better for everyone.

You cant attach this to a D4 our D5's stock mounting bracket?
What are the dimensions of the Z-Brackets bolt pattern? I measured the stock bolt pattern on my D5 and its 1 5/8" apart.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean but I think your asking if this mounts directly to the pump and the answer is no. This is a adapter to allow you to use any of my other brackets on a 120mm fan. Here's some pics to help you understand what I mean.

Just as a suggestion you may want to offer a standoff kit to reduce noise induced by fanblade turbulence when mounting on the intake side of the fan, and and it would also decrease airflow resistance.

I will take it into consideration if there's enough demand for it. I did play with different size standoffs to see if there was any difference and I didn't hear any audible turbulence from the fan. One of the criteria when I made this was that there would be no audible increase in fan noise. The first one was right on the fan but I decided to go against this because it did create a little turbulence and I didn't want to block the fan too much. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just in case of confusion I was referring to standoffs on the corners, not in the center where they already are. I cant see in the picture but are there already spacers on the corners?

I'm sure if anyone objected then they could just spend a few bucks and order some from McMaster-Carr.

Oh i see. What i meant was if i could attach the stock mounting bracket from the D5 directly to the Z-Bracket. I guess not, but didnt i see you do that in a build of yours our of your friends build?

You probably could use it with a different bracket but you would have to modify it. I made this so I would never have to use the stock bracket again!

I might just do that. Having it mounted over the bottom fan intake would really help with my build. Thanks Dave!
