The method for vista worked! had to reboot a couple times it seemed to hang ont he 4th controller the first time! But its working! You just saved my ass! WOW thanks so much!

I tried the above method, but it did not work for me.... at least not for the hard drives that are connected to the ICHR9 ports (I have the jmicron ports disabled). I also tried the registry method (http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=444831) and that did not work either. Did you do anything else to get hot-swapping working on the ICHR9 ports?

i have tried both a 8800gt by xfx and a 8800gts 320 by evga and neither work

edit: also my keyboard and mouse dont light up, there usb.

special vid is only supposed to be available at vcores of 1.2v and up, below 1.2v the spec vid can add ripple which could damage the cpu.

thats all i know about it, in relation to appearing and disappearing (i don't have the board but may be getting one soon). read that at link below, post 308 and 309.

also anyone help me post at 500? this board does 494 at stock volts but i cant post at 500 no matter what I try and I know the cpu is good for it.

I'm having this kind of issue - with other than first bios, no matter what Vcore I set above 1,25V (in bios), I have no-boot situation... "Funny" thing is, that first official bios works great and I can use full range of Vcore voltage and it's rock stable (sig)

Maybe its defective? I'm sure yu tried clearning the Cmos That would be really lame...

i tried 2 newest bios and both the same, i figured with an e8600 i might need a newer bios, i will keep going back till i find a good one.

Sorry guys another 4870x2 question. What is the first bios that supports the 4870x2 or should I just get the newest bios out? What happens if I try my current bios and it does not work, just a blank screen (no damage or anything right)? I'm guessing that I need to return everything back to stock speeds, now if I have the profile saved will it still be there after the bios update? I like the way it is now, e8500 @ 4.6 (maybe 1.35v don't remember), is that going to be easy to get with the nwer bios? Thank you for any help you can give me.

try puttin in an old pci card reset cmos
its a bios quirk happened to me sometimes with my 8800gt n never happened with 4870

i need some help. I have 4x1gb of patriot 1066 ram (kept crashing) and ran memtest, it said that it had alot of errors. I put the system all back to stock settings and got 4x1gb of ocz 1066 ram. I put it in (I tired every combnation with the number of sticks and the slots) and it post C1. Put the patriot in, starts just fine, put ocz back in C1. I cleared cmos, C1. The one time it did load and went through the bois, it stopped at the end and said no operating system installed, restarted C1. Put the patriot back in, started right up. I don't know what to do, I've worked on this for a few hours. Any ideas? I'd like to oc again, but anything above 800 and the patriot will crap out. Could the ocz be doa from factory? Appericate any help, thanks.

test each stick individually
n you need 1.5v on nb for 4 sticks

what ocz kit do u have, and is it single or double sided and what are the voltages, same with the patriot

I will check the nb voltage, not sure what it is now since I set it at stock (on my oc setting it was 1.55v), but I do have all four sticks of patriot in now. I have these: ozc and patriot. I did set the ram to its correct voltages. I can't even get the ocz to run at 800 (or anything for that matter) and anything over that is a crash for the patriot.

whats memory voltage did you try 2.2-2.3v
set timings manually to 5-5-5-15-4-42
if these are d9gkx you can use the settings praz used in dfi forums

thats not what i wanted exactly, i need the voltages on your sticks, the timings on your sticks and if they are single or double sided (are there chips on both sides or just one side)

yes
i had to turn off power from the back if powersupply for a 1 minute first then if 88 clear cmos

Sorry, the ocz is 2.1v and the patriot is 2.3v with the timings for both at 5-5-5-15. I think they are both double sided. I'm going to try again today, I'll set the nb voltage, ram timings, and ram voltage. I've never had this problem before, just put in the memory and it worked. I don't understand why its this hard? Thank you guys for the help and I'll post back with what I find out.
