    Just a guess: an old habbit from the 939 hey days when 99% of the people
    had 2 sticks only?

    I'm not sure what you mean, you can already get hybrid and low power consumption in a 780G. I'm guessing you think the 790FX is being replaced by the GX, but the GX is more replacing the X I think. So the lineup will be (I think):

    790FX+SB600 --> 790FX+SB750
    790X+SB600 --> 790GX+SB750
    780G+SB700 --> Might get re-released, don't know.

    The 790X may not be going away, but I haven't heard anything new regarding them and it would seem the GX is a natural replacement.

    Yeah the X doesn't, but I don't know if they'll keep making the X when the GX appears to be the same + IGP (it also has two PCIe slots).

    It's this:

    RD790/SB600 --> RD790/SB750
    RS780D/SB750
    RD780/SB600 --> RD780/(SB700/SB750)?
    RS780/SB700 (already here)
    RS780C/SB700 (already here)

    Basicly current boards with SB700 are all more value-ish boards and they most likely wont get an upgrade to SB750.

    RS780D will be released with SB750 right away, RD790 will get a re-launch. I dont know what is happening with RD780. It might actually get a re-launch although I think I saw a RD780/SB700 combo already so then it maybe wont. RD780 isnt used a lot anyhow so maybe it will be dumped too.

    That looks a whole lot better than what was shown on Cebit.

    The 790FX boards are. Dont look at the RS780D boards, they've simply not enough PCIe lanes to make use of 4 PCIe (16x) slots.

    DFI's RS790/SB750 boards will have just as their first ones just 3 PCIe 16x slots, although it has a PCIe 4x slot as well. Probably Asus' RD790/SB750 board will have 4 PCIe 16x ports, most likely MSI's and Gigabyte's (if they're going to re-release the RD790) too.

    Will I be okay with a X4 9950 on a 4 phase vcore + 1 phase nb design on the DFI board? I know more phases doesn't mean it's good if it's poorly designed

    Gigabyte always seems to have boards up first on Newegg. And of course they are my least favorite brand. ><

    Damn, prices on both boards are very reasonable for all the features (solid caps, etc). I thought I would have to wait a month or so for the price gouging to stop.

    I predict that AMD is going to sell a LOT of these chips. No wonder all the motherboard manufacturers were silent when Nvidia inquired if they should continue to make chipsets.....

    It is funny how everyone was wondering when they would show up on e-tailers sites.. and no one has said anything about them.. has Anand's site updated their review?.. I wonder if Deneb will sneak out the same...? strange thing at AMD ..

    Nice pictures of the DFI Jr. This is the board I have been waiting on to make its appearance. From the pictures it looks like DFI Jr. has the on board sideport graphics memory.

    Also, look at the Northbridge heatsink. It looks like it is designed to easily accept a 40mm fan(?) in the center of the heatsink. If so, good job DFI,

    Two questions: how many phases (in theory anyway) are required for the 125-140 watt processors? As well, just to re-verify, we're pretty certain these boards will support Deneb correct? I'm considering a Deneb build just for the heck of it, but I'm not sure if any of the current phenoms would be well supported by these boards or not, and if I'm better off waiting for Deneb release (which could be any time this fall really).
