Titan - great job on the 3.4Ghz.. i have a 9950 which I will start playing with. Hopefully it does just as well Could you give me a screenie of your AOD at 3.4Ghz.

I have both DFI and MSI to give this chip a shot. How bad is the cold bug on this chip? Has anyone gone subzero yet?

Hi Titan7171, thank you for the results. Have you ran coredamage for temperature testings? It pushes your cpu to the max in a minute. Prime95 needs ~15mins to reach the same temp. I found it quite usefull as a first test. Above 1.525V my system powers off at temps above ~70°C (ambient 25°C).

No I havent run core damage but it doesnt sound like something good lol

Ill try it when I get home tonight.

Does anyone know what the top voltage is I can run? Ive done 1.48 but I think I can go higher according to my temps

i'd say 1.55v. that used to be the norm. but phenoms haven't been comprehensively tested in comparison.

Thanks, it does a very good job in maximizing temps.

I successfully benched winxp 32bit with ~1.625V (temps ~65°C). My board overvolts alot, ~0.05V under load at those high voltages, so i might have been close to 1.7V. I'm unsure if it caused some degeneration here temps go crazy every now and then, I lapped the D-tek abit and currently my temps are ok. But the days before it only worked for a day or so and the my cpu temps went up 10°C under load.
At 3GHz the maximum voltage I can apply is ~1.5325V above the system powers off partly (black screen and ~75W power consumption) after a few minutes of coredamage.

I've just started playing with my 9950. It's been running Orthos (dual instances, stressing all 4 cores) for 5 hours at 2.9Ghz and hasn't gone above 38*C.... But it does have a PA120.3 all to itself with 3 77CFM fans on it. :p

Only had to bump the voltage to 1.36 aswell (DFI LanParty DK 790FX). Did a SuperPI run at 3Ghz and got just over 26.5 seconds, not bad considering this is on an untweaked Vista.

    Goal is 24/7 stable 3.2Ghz.

    oooh, exciting.

I have been trying to figure out how to get 4GB stable in Vista 64 at anything above 3.4GHz and so far it is just not happening. However, 3.4GHz on 1.4125V is finally benchmark stable with 4GB. The problem is I cannot push HTT or NB core clock up to improve latencies as this combination will not run the NB clock at anything higher than 2GHz past 3.2GHz core clock, just too much load on the IMC I am afraid. Still playing with the memory subtimings and a combination of HTT/Multiplier ranges to dial the board in. Oh well, at least I finally got a decent chip to play with this time.

I replaced my 9850BE with a 9950BE. The 9850 was stable at 3.0Ghz@1.32V but it could not boot up over 3.2GHz. Strange but the 9950 needs 1.36V for prime stable operation at 3.0GHz but it able to boot up even at 3.4GHz@1.5V.

I got this CPU inside the box:

The CPU is exactly the same (except the last 3 digits in the SN) with that 9950 which appeared in the first Greek 9950 review. They were able to get 3535Mhz@1.475V in a MSI K9A2 Platinum(!!). After that I found a Japanese guy who has also the same CPU (except the last 3 digits) and he was able to get 3503MHz@1.45 in an ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe and PI stable 3209MHz@1.30V.

I have to say that something really wrong with the DFI LP UT 790FX-M2R + 9950BE pair. I use the latest 612 beta BIOS but I've already tried the latest final as well.

I can't wait for the SB750 boards... I'm going to throw out this board through the window. It has given me much headache since december...

I have got the exact same stepping.

    JAAHB AA 0820 BPMW

    I reach 3.3Ghz stable and 3.4Ghz bench stable on a DK M2RS.

When doing stablity tests for a while the board or something turns off all usb devices inclusive my mouse and keyboard . The PWM reaches 82 C degree when that happens. Was able to switch to a new case and now pwm temp is way lower.
So i figure that the board is almost at its limits power wise not much more juice left for high voltage testing.
    Otherwise a NICE boost from a 9850 2.8Ghz to 3.3 Ghz stable on a non SB750 board!

    I am happy.

    Arrrgh!!

How much voltage necessary for the stable 3.3GHz? Could you share me the bottommost line which is on the CPU's cap?

I got a another with JAAHB AA 0820 BPMW as well & i can not get it to windows at 3.0Ghz no matter how much Vcore.
That is 1 9950 & 1 9850 that has the same stepping others that are totally crap on my mobo that have been seen hitting between 3.4-3.5.
I think the luck of the draw also comes with your DFI as well.

Allright, just figured that this is the serial also printed on the phenom box.

See the voltages in the picture, just noticed that cpu-z reads it wrong for some reason.

Would be interesting if there is any improvement with a new board soon

I'm almost sure that the problem is the board itself. I think mine is one of the first UT 790FX-M2R. I bought it in early december. Sometime in the past Tony said that the newer boards (rev. ??) are slightly better.

"NB 2.6GHZ...100 more than on the older DFI board"

So, I'll change mine immediately when the first SB750 board appear.

Could you share us your 9950's letters and numbers?

What are you going to buy instead of DFI? I think that the ASUS Crosshair II would be a good choice.

Thanks! I haven't heard too much about the M3N-HT deluxe but the Crosshair II looks very promissing. He got stable 3.4Ghz@1.41V.

Just installed my 9950 in the TA770/RX780/SB600 with Mod Bios 612.XXX all performance options enabled.. TLB fix is also disabled..

    3.3ghz@1.31v .
Then i said "what the heck "and went right to 1.56v..(I know am i Crazy no, Im curiose) Lots of potential and finally water stable chips while using Higher Vcore

6hours later and it Idles @29c and just under 50c load windows SP3XP32bit.

This CPU 9950 BE / JAAWB AA 0820 BPMW Last Three SerialX is 514 .
So far ive only pushed CPU/NB with just the Multi's. I know theres More and im also trying to find my Mobo's Limit Volt wise . @ 1.56v the 12v drops too 11.84v which i think may be a little low with a 650watt PSU...

    3400mhzCPU/2400mhzNB @1.56v

P.S. Nice OC's everyone , im happy again and cant wait for those 45's
