    Project Insomniac

So i've been threatening this one for a while - its time to go to work on this Lian Li V2100, taken the ugly door off (and thats where its staying lol) and stripped some other bits too. I'm going to replace the upper/lower partition with a new idea and the 5.25" bays will be no more either !

Thermochill PA120.3 in the base and a double rad sideways mounted where the 5.25" bays are and that lip at the bottom removed, :001_cool:

There will be a new front plate where the bays used to be courtesy i hope of Toms (Chilled Pc's) cnc machine !

This door will be totally different (other door too ;-) )!

Next stage - strip more out and fabricate !!

So, i have 2 days off - first time in ages and i do loads of plans for my case and drawings for the machined parts - i have to cut some holes out of the beast with the Dremel - off sets i with a bag full of dremel etc in one hand and the case in the other and as usual its raining outside and the rather slippy fire escape out the back of my gaff mixed with some **** luck means that i need a new case for my project

Lots of other damage and the chassis is so twisted the doors wont fit on it - bah !!

Cheers Joe - Its screwed guys - even if it straightened out it would be kinked - theres loads of scuffs too - would cost more to repair than buy a new one then theres the tidying up !! I'm going to fit a triple rad internally in my old friend below without being in the front top or bottom !

wow did you drop it off a three story building or something? That's a lot of damage and on every side! Too bad for sure. At least you have the nice white V1K, although it looks tiny compared to the 2100. I was looking forward to this as some inspiration for when I get my V2K soon well, good luck

How exactly are you going to fit a triple rad in there?!

Yesterday - disaster - today i woke up at 4 30 (its called Insomnia as thats what i've had for 2 months !!) and i looked at all the comments on the forums and thought " i have to do something with this mess of a case so here goes hehe !
How about a case/test bench style with a different colour idea ?

This is what i took away

Red, Green - kinda terracota colour and black in various stages -

Then after the soft shades and shadow effects i cut up a plastic file seperator for some jaggedys !

Tried it on the base 1st (would'nt be seen lol).

From yesterdays mess to something completely different hehe kind of case/test bench methinks ? yes, i think i have gone mad :-)

the paint looks a bit crazy... wouldnt be my personal choice, but still, better than leaving it a dead case

Cheers guys - colour was pretty much a none thought process thing - had the idea to try and spray camo on it and went and bought 4 rattle cans and started in
It actually looks much better in the flesh - came out way better than i thought it would tbh - want to get a few bits more now then build it up

Cheers guys - i had half a day to spare before work so i decided to brace up the the case using the original side panel (the panels did'nt take a tumble down the stairs) so i cut it to shape and painted it along with the rad and silentmax Hdd caddy i'll be using -

And the finished job with and without flash - still hard to catch the feel of it on film lol !

I'm really digging that paint design man. I'm anxious to see how it works with the innards.
