    i think you 're right.

Some tests this last day and night , with my qx6700 and its unblocked multiplier, my board accepts some small fsb like 330, not more. (remember, 345 max with q6600). This is for me an understanding thing.

But with fsb like 290/300 and multiplier 11 or 12, it seems ok, about 3500 and t° max ~ 72°... always with vFSB and vMCH default, i prefer.

By comparaison, my Q6600 (which was on the XBX2) is now installed on my P35-DQ6, 4x900 @ 1,43175v bios, or 8x450. DDR2 @4.4.4.12 2,16v. T° 62~68°. I think the difference between core t° shows that i have a little problem with positionning Thermalright eXtreme. May be, may be not.

Different installations than my signature, but better Overclocking, and T° lower.

May be the fsb max is 345/350 @ vFSB=1,25/vMCH=1,525 with q6600-G0 and 330/335 with Qx6700-B3.
A bit higher for the qx6700 b3. About 349 was my limit for 24/7 folding stability, but that was with increased vfsb and vmch. Pretty much par for the course with this board and quad. You can go higher with quad on FSB but not full load stable for 24/7 for me.

I think that xbx2 is not really made for quad (not extreme) because the fsb max is too low.
But, with extreme quad, like my tests show us, it is nice, with acceptable t° and no high voltage.

So, i can boot @380 and more, but not stable with stress software like Occt and csmt (cpuStressMT).

I never obtain stability with q6600 and fsb more than 346, although i set vMCH to 1,7, vFSB to 1,65 and of course some vcore.

My tests are over with this motherboard, i keep it with my qx6700 @ 3420 (12x285, best freq for DDR2) or 13x266, and less temperature and vcore.

I have E6700 and 2x1GB Corsair XMS2 at 800mhz 4-4-4-12. Also, with stock cooler. Would it be possible to hit fsb 300 and else should i change beside fsb value?

    CPU Undervolting?

Is there any way to undervolt the CPU any more than 1.28 volts?

I put an E2160 in this board, and would like to reduce power consumption as much as possible. Stock voltage is 1.325, so 1.28 isn't much savings. Looks like other folks around the net have taken the voltage down considerably on this processor.

I'm currently on BIOS version 2770.

    Thanks!

Hey all. Quick question. Im thinking of getting myself this ram for my Bad Axe 2. Are there any of you currently using this ram with your Bad Axe 2īs, and what is your findings with it. I know that I wont be able to run it at its full speed, but Im looking to get it on 4-4-4-12 timings at between 800 - 900 Mhz. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks mojaveron & scorpion. I like both brands alot. In my oppinion, they are the 2 brands that score 10/10 ramwise for me.
I am currently running 2 x 1 gig DDR2 800 mushkin modules and they are super fast, but a little too hot for me... my PC is on 24/7 and I do all sorts of things on it. Recently Ive been having some problems booting. Seems like one of my mushkins are dying. Needs to be warmed up before my PC boots. If i remove it, no problems. So I thought of going back to corsair for while, never had problems there and they ran alot cooler. Im seriuosly in between worlds right now, Mushkin/Corsair. But thanks for the advice :-)

PS... this is what Ive got ATM

So, it is possible to run E8x00 on BX2? I am thinking of maybe E8400? Anyone tried?

I decided to mess around with my rather neglected XBX2 with the E4300 installed, and compared results with my P5K-E/Wifi with the Q6600. Both were set to 333x9 with the RAM at DDR2-1000 4-4-4-12 timings (Geil Ultra Plus 9280 in the Bad Axe, Corsair Dominator 6400C3D in the Asus). I ran Everest's Memory and Cache Benchmark and to my surprise the 975X had significantly higher read speeds (8959MB/s vs 8114MB/s), and the latency was lower (49.8ns to 59.2ns), and that's with Performance Level at 4 on the P35 board!

As I suspected. Would be interesting to know how it would behave on a more recent bios.

Have little problem. I just got my Zalman CNPS9700 and I've tried little basic OC. I have pair of Corsair XMS2 CM2X1024-6400C4 and i got it to work on FSB 300 with 4-4-4-12 on 2.1v. I didn't change anything else when i tried FSB 333, only memory settings to 5-5-5-18. Currently, it's working on 1000Mhz and CPU on 3,33Ghz. I have E6700.

Problem is that in orthos, When i use blend test I get hardware error. When only testing CPU, temps are about 47max on fSB 333. But when I use ram test it works for a minute of so and my pc reboots. Should I adjust voltages or anything?

Start with running memtest on your ram. Theres a chance your ram wont do 1000mhz or needs more volts to do it. the divider might also be whats causing your problem, try it at 1:1. The northbridge might also need more volts.

Unhappy my D975xbx2 setup is killing my soul

Hi everyone. I cannot for the life of me figure out why my computer will not post, so this is a last resort (before I kick the computer in the face and buy all new parts). ANY HELP is much appreciated!

    Here's the background:

I have owned this setup for a little over two years now. Had the occasional BSOD, but only because of some OC (E6600 @ 3.4Ghz). I never bumped CPU voltage past 1.4 and my Tuniq kept temps in the 30-40's.

One day, a month or so ago, I installed a bunch of driver updates without restarting in between each one, and then I did a bios update. The updates appeared to be successful, but then on the NEXT reboot, my system wouldn't POST. When I press the power button, the comp will seemingly turn on (all fans go 100%, then slow down a bit to "normal speeds"), yet I see no video. First I thought it was the RAM, so I tested something like 8 other sticks, and because it still happens I assume it's not the RAM. I then RMA'd the motherboard, but that didn't yield any new results. I just bought a used, known-to-be-working video card, and that also doesn't work. The only things I have plugged in are my Mobo, CPU w/ stock intel fan, 1 stick of compatible memory (tried 2 as well), my GPU, and my monitor (which I know to be working) to the GPU. SAME THING!

I initially disregarded my power supply, because it seemed like the most reliable part (corsair hx620w), and my system "powers on", but is it possible that's it? In the past, if I didn't have the PCIe power port plugged into my graphics card, the system would still boot (but the bios would tell me I need more juice), so I can't imagine it's the PSU. I DO have the 8 pin motherboard power cord and the 24pin plugged in, and I have tried with and without the extra molex power port on the mobo.

I tried powering off and removing AC cord, removing CMOS battery, letting sit for a while, and plugging everything, but that still doesn't work. I tried simulating a failed CPU by removing it, but the system won't even power on without a CPU, so it's not that either right?

I am at a complete loss here, and Intel doesn't know either.

I'd try another PSU or test that PSU on another board. I've had a bad PSU show symptoms like what you're describing, even when the rails looked normal on a DMM.
