ok, i have a problem, idk where to post this so ill ask here, i got this mobo as most of already know, but my rig isnt done, im waiting for a Q9450
anywyas, mean while im using an old P4 at 3.3 ghz and also a 9800gtx now my problem is i was trying to play nfs pro street and as i raise teh resolution, it immediately starts to get sluggish , its only playable at 800x600
is this the cpu being a bit to old or something or am i screwd? loking up i have almost the same specs as nits

No matter how good your computer is, if your CPU is....crap. don't expect miracles But yeh your CPU is your bottleneck meaning its holding your computer (GPU) from doing anything because the CPU cant handle it, you shouldn't have this problem when you put that Q9450 in your rig

btw try clocking that p4 wanna see it burn to hell!

I haven't really tried many games yet, only one, COH @ stock and it was smooth as silk @ 1280x1024.

No matter how good your computer is, if your CPU is....crap. don't expect miracles But yeh your CPU is your bottleneck meaning its holding your computer (GPU) from doing anything because the CPU cant handle it, you shouldn't have this problem when you put that Q9450 in your rig

I have a P4 @ 3.0GHz here as it happens. Can't even remember if I clocked it or not now. Seems so long ago I put it together! It runs Doom 3 quite well with a radeon X1650 + 3GB of ram. No major slowdowns or jerkiness @1280x1026.

Perhaps it's worth trying to reinstall the video drivers, and even the OS if the system has become corrupt. I got slowdowns in benchmarks while trying to OC this Q9450, and restoring a previous image I took of my partition sorted that right out! I can't say for sure, but it seems like OCing corrupted my system, causing the bad bench marks. Just glad I have multiple image backups of my OS

Nice. I've always ran loadline enabled. I get absolutely no vdroop with it on. It does what it is suppose to do for me. What kind of Memory bandwidth are you getting?

That would be nice to know, totally forgot about that, bet because its a 45mn chip its going to be fine, unlike my Q6850 that just wont give me good Memory bandwidth for whatever reason. *prays that a bios update will fix it*

With some luck this should work, if you use the correct voltage for your CPU start with 1.38v as you done, and if not stable then work your way up a little with the voltage untill it is stable.

I was getting very nice bandwidth and latency when running linked and in sync @ 3.66 and @ 3.7. @ 3.6 my bench was just a little under what you see in the attachment.

Those were the only two FSBs that I saw that improvement @, and everything else gave me <10000 MBs.

For some reason now, after having got 3.66 stable, I'm getting ordinary bandwidth/latency now, both @ 3.66 and @ 3.7 despite running linked and in sync! Not sure what's going on, and to top it all my bandwidth has gone down @ 3.6 too

I tried disabling loadline calibration, and reseting bios, but nothing is helping

I'm starting to wonder if my board has developed a fault (bios was doing some strange things like changing my linked settings) or I've fried something doing that 24hr run with loadline enabled!?

Loadline Calibration Shouldn't damge anything, all it will do is stop vdroop meaning that your CPU when on full load the voltage shouldn't drop and when idle the voltage always stays the same, it shouldn't harm anything, I have had it on from day 1, Only thing that could damage something is clocking your PCI-E port in the bios which can damage your GPU and also the motherboard. but part from that Loadline Calibration is just a pencil mod but without the hardwork

Sadly there's more to it then just that, Johnny_ftm prolly can give ya more insight... but to sum it up with LLC enabled you can get very bad spikes (read overshoots) that could be lethal to some CPU's (read 45nm) resulting in degradation and co... it all depends on various factors...

Does anyone know if a fried cpu/chipset would manifest by lower bandwidth?

Right now, the only thing I can think of trying is to flash bios to a later version. I think I'm clutching @ straws here, but perhaps the bios was corrupted.

Yeah - I used Memset to change the timings, so they were the same in both cases. No matter what I do with the timings, I can't get the same bandwidth/latency that I had before.

Think I'll have to RMA this board, as I can't see any other option open to me.

Breakthrough! I tested some settings @ 3.6 and got screenshots of the results. The only settings that changed are the ones listed below:

Shot 1: Loadline Calibration-DISABLED + Vcore-1.431v

Shot 2: Loadline Calibration-DISABLED + Vcore-1.437v

Shot 3: Loadline Calibration-ENABLED + Vcore-1.431v

So increasing Vcore a couple of notches (0.012v) above what I needed for 24hr Prime95 stability (or enabling LLC), results in extra bandwidth (or a better synthetic benchmark anyway) ?!

what options for extra cooling will i have if i get the this board

from all the reviews ive read most of them come to the conclusion that the stock cooling is inadequate especially if overclocking and i will be using a TRUE so that will probably limit what i add to the NB due to lack of space

the first thing i do "if" i get this board is replace the thermal material with some arctic ceramique

I'm using stock heatpipes and a TRUE with no issues. I have a small fan off of an old amd socket A HSF. It rests on the video card and goes underneath the edge of the TRUE.
