Yea, it cant really be a good brand when the first google search for Triplex 3870 brings up my review:
http://forums.hexus.net/graphics-car...hd-3870-a.html
Ive sent them two emails about the powerplay problems and got no reply (taiwan based lol).
Sapphire on the other hand put up a new bios on their forums fixing the powerplay problem (the card switches to 2D clocks and stays there lol).
Must get rid of it ....
It was nice at first, but the abscense of customer service is really bad.
I was really really considering buying thie following and selling of my triplex:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=722240
But with the price on the 4850, I would rather wait for one of them now and see how it is. I wont be able to afford a 4870 as a sell and upgrade right away on launch, so hopefully the 4850 will be good. As long as it is better then what I have, it will be fine.
The only good thing about the triplex is its smaller zize, but, wait a minute, no crossfire connector in the box, nor that Juarez game either, and it was only £10 less then a known brand.
From now on, Sapphire, HIS, or Powercolor only lol.
The two upgrades I have just done went really well - £76 for the new ram, I got £80 for my old pairs, £44.50 for a second samsung T166, hopefully I will get £30 back for my old Maxtor.
I am looking to repeat this with the 4850 now :p

Will do, lots of time after finals.
I've previously had a sonic tower and an NT06 on an x1900xt which i killed when putting on a custom mosfet heatsink. shame.
Came across this "thing" on the TT website. http://www.thermaltake.com/product/C.../cl-p0464.asp# Sometimes they've got pretty fun stuff when imagining about CPU heatsinks on GPUs. Normal DuOrbs are slim. This one's obese.

I'm hoping that Powercolor will have some custom cooled cards again available from launch on the 4800's so that I dont need to bother with paying more for a seperate cooler.
That duo orb is one hawt HSF o.O
My Silent Knight 2 is obsolete lol.
CH : RV770XT samples out :

.
What is the difference between the RV770pro and RV770XT?
4850 and 4870?
yepp. Pro and XT would've been the names following the old naming scheme.
xx70 = XT
xx50 = Pro
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks
hmmm, so a good idea would be to upgrade to the cheap 4850 on release, then upgrade to Crossfire X with the 4870 later on in the year.
(And wait impatiently for a budget 2x 16x PCI-E board for crossfire)
dunno, but is it possible that the HD-4870 will get slowed down by the HD-4850? if this is true buying another HD-4850 would make more sense.
budget board with two physical x16-slots? I don't believe we will see something like this anytime soon (only if you consider ~130 Euro as budget). next stop is P45 and this one's got "only" two x8-slots in CF-mode.
I don't know yet which card I'll buy... haven't played much the last few monthsbut I definately need a new card as my X1950 Pro has become to slow to power my 22" WS. are there any cool games coming out soon? the only one I know is Mafia 2 which is quite far away...

Snip, nevermind, benchmarks = confusing.
The first ones I saw showed good performance from a mixed 3850 and 3870, but this one shows it is bad:

I'm going to hunt for the one I saw a couple of weeks ago....
In some games like bioshock though, there is very little difference:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/663/6/
But in a lot of games there is a big difference.

Any news on rumored release dates? Looking for the 1GB 4870X2.
ASUS P8Z77-V Pro | 3770K | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 | VID | Samsung 830 128GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 3TB | SeaSonic X750
Aparantly though, someone said that the 4870 will be out a month later then the 4850.
I think we are going to get GDDR3 4850's first in May, then the GDDR5 version and the 4870 in June.
I will be wanting to wait for the GDDR4 version of course. Hopefully I will get some monies on my birthday in may and will be able to get the 4870 XD
How reliable :p
We shall see. Yesterday Scan had the Powercolor 3850 extreme (720/1800) on offer for just £69.99 and I was sooooo tempted to just get it and go crossfire with me 3870 instead. But my PC spoke and told me NOOOOOOO!!!! 4870 PLEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
:p
Nice to see such an early release date! They have probably started to ship uints of 4850s around by this time!
not going to happen though, at best we'd perhaps some solid info, but with the ati and nvidia have been lately don't expect to see what the official specs and benchmarks are until a week or two before launch once the chinese sites start benching the cards and public info is given out

The R600 was released "early" at places like Ebay around May 10, 2007. We will see if the same will happen with the R700.
