    Talking

boot and ready to go to BIOS. Wait, what, pop-fzzzt Oh **** look down to see and unwelcome glow and a few small sparks WTF
Did almost the same thing a few builds ago, in fact it was my 1st DFI board, the "Expert", Tagan 550 Watt PSU in single rail (Turbo) mode- 55 amps continuous.
In my haste to get everything up and running I had attached the Floppy power connector out of alignment, which had connected the 12V rail to ground, I yanked out the power cable quick smart, but still 4" of wires were totally fused together, cut them off attached a new connector using yea old faithful PVC tape, everything worked fine.

Ran all last weekend off Brother Esau's 416 BIOS template, without a glitch, idle temps at 35 load 47, most stressful thing it's done is AVI conversion along with multiple day to day tasks.
Tuesday made one change, I upped the multiplier to 14.5 which is giving me a clock speed of 2.9GHZ, still going strong, temps have gone up by 2 degrees idle, load no change.

Yes, it was up and rolling after I cleaned up the carnage in the attic over the DVD. Even while these little attempt to convert a 12V wire into a glowing ember the mobo was booting in the great room as nothing was wrong with a fire raging in the attic. Turns out I did exactly what Illogical is talking about, I though I had just skinned a wire but the scorch on the Vantec fan controller between the two grounds is evident of a different crime. Current through the contacts, that skinny wire and the controllers circuit board was likely only a 20 or so AMPs so the PSU just kept feeding it and not seeing it as a short. Nothing worse than having $1000 worth of equipment at the mercy of one stupid mistake. Looking for another fan controller hopefully with a better power connector that I don't have to try and plug in blind.

Good news all is well AlabamaCajun!Such a simple and "stupid" mistake, that can happen to anyone, but with a such big possible consequences.Good thing your board and PSU are well. What are your thoughts on day-to-day usage with 9850?Did you tried any games yet?I often get that "Phenoms runs soo smooth in games" statement from some of ppl i know.I think that being native quad and keeping all the shared data in the L3 gives Phenom the "edge" in most multicore/thread situations,be it games or daily multitasking.

DFI Noob Fanboy here, love this board .
2.7G, ran folding for 45 mins (never made it past 15 on the GBT). Vcore is still a mystery as I get used to what is up and what is down. Set at 1.2625 in BIOS, Coretemp 1.275, in the health panel of BIOS says 1.24 and 1.31 in SmartGd.

Up Vcore and HTT(FSB*) by small steps, and test stability.

*Wrong name convection for AMD 64 systems, just to help you know between HTT and HT.

Your temps are fine, you should be able to handle 3 GHz if all is stable, make sure you test for stability.

By the way check out this threadhttp://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...hlight=unified. You'll find a lot of good info.

Brother Esau's settings should put you nicely at 2.8 at stock vcore, if you've got a good chip

    It's better if you give Load temps; CPU-VID, NB-VID, HT-VID, & MEM-VID, BIOS values.

It is good m8, If it 's stable yes, just go in small steps

man... i have tried to get my htt above 220 for at least 1-2 weeks... now i cannot even get it above 206 without it crashing lol..

how can i get my multi up higher?

why does stupid AOD reset my vcore everytime i open it? zzzz

I have kinda cheap ram but its still patriot... that wouldnt really limit me under 220 HTT would it?

I have higher vcore for testing purposes... im not worried about my temps :P

Had none differences between Vista x86/x64 and Server 2008 x64, however I could go up to 2.9 with XP x86 but was not stable at all

Didn't nothing special, installed Vista x64 at HTT=250, updates, reboot, Catalyst drivers, reboot, all drivers left, reboot, up HTT=255,

Other's have reported problems with Vista x64
