Hey Guys, just had a quick question. I am trying to decide whether I want to jump to watercooling right away or not. If I do, I realize that if I want to cool the NB with water I will have to replace the heatsinks for the SB and MOSFET. What would you reccomend I do for those two? Any replacement heatsink that would be ample cooling or should I use water for it all?

That's the exact burner I used for my IP35 pro cruncher. Works like a champ for me. Very nice unit and great price too.

What sort of VTT voltages are you all needing. I've just got up to 10 mins (and still increasing) on OCCT - but I had to upt the VTT to 1.17 bios (1.16 in uguru in Windows)

    Vcore 2.9 - 2.6 won't boot. 2.8 or 7 might be stable - i'll need to experiment, mch 1.47
    Clock 426mhz,
core 3408 as it is right now - under a waterblock
    2x2gigs ocz reaper at 2.9v +2%

My bigest problem is that I don't fail anything with a warning I just hard crash when I do fail.

Might this be my PSU (a Tagan u22 480w)

To those of you streuggling with high FSB memory stability, particulalry with 2x2GB try tRFC = 54 and
    tRD=8
Worked for me - not htat I've got ballistix.

I read you post and got a rush of blood to my head. But yep, of course it is 1.29. I just forgot to add the 1 and put the decimal point in.

But at the moment I really am annoyed about my PSU.

I do have a Hiper type R modular, but it only has a 4 pin input for the CPU.

Is it worth trying to swap it in?

Following Ace's recommendations for BIOS settings and RAM timings to run 4 DIMMs I made the following changes:

    FSB: 440x8
    MCH: Upped to 1.48v
    RAM: Crucial Ballistix 4x1GB DDR2-800
RAM Timings: 5-5-5-18-48-2T, 2.2v, running at 880 mhz

I can run memtest86+ test #5 for over 100 consecutive passes without error, and I had a 10 hour run of Prime95 blend that was successful as well. Then, suddenly I'll get a rounding error (it first occurred with the 768K test). I then stopped the test, closed Prime95, and re-opened it... multiple failures within a few seconds on the 1024K test. Continuous failure would occur at any uGuru settings (significantly lowering FSB to under 400 didn't help at all) until the computer was restarted.

Then later that night, my gf was playing World of Warcraft on my computer (a game which is fairly stressful on RAM) and the system just completely froze... no ability to Ctrl+Alt+Del or move the mouse. Event viewer in vista just noted the non-descriptive 6008 error.

So I can't get a handle on why the system would just randomly become unstable like this, if not a compatibility problem with my hardware. Do these problems sound like a PSU problem, or something related to tRFC being too tight at 48 or something??

need to go higher on the MCH to about 1.64 or 1.56

    Ace,

What would be the maximum voltage to push through the MCH?

to prove a point i went to max MCH to do Prime 95 at 3.8Ghz on a Q6600...i would try near the upper limit to see if that helps...if it still freezes or BSOD, then back down some and increase the Vcore some more...it is going to be either not enough vcore or MCH...the other thing that could bring you down is heat.

i should mention that 2.2 vdimm should be enough unless you have a bad stick and that might require higher vdimm to get it to fall in line.

I don't believe it - swapped in a different PSU - same voltage drops.

Swapped surge protector - drop gone. (or is there a clash between occt and uguru.)

Anyway, those drops seem to have gone. Phew.

Well I think I'm having RAM problems. Memtest reports errors whem OC'd (not at stock). The Egg is returning my Ballistix and I'm going to try 2x1GB OCZ Titanium CL3 (PC2 6400). I hope that the RAM has been holding me back and not the E8400.

My SeaSonic S12-500 500W PSU is doing great on my rig. My 5V, 12V, and 3.3V rails are dead steady during OCCT testing. As far as I know SeaSonic is one of the top PSU manufacturers, so there shouldn't be an issue there.

Try running OCCT for an hour and check the voltage graphs for spikes or drops.

I want to cut up the heatpipe assembly, reuse the PWM block with bolts and a fan, and replace the NB and SB sinks....

Are the SB, NB, and PWM heatsink bases on the IP35 "solid" ? i.e. the heatpipes do not extend into the blocks?

What material is inside the heatpipes? Does it have mercury or some other major toxic stuff?
