So I had my system set at 4.68Ghz in bios.

    1500 with a 12.5 multi

    1500/4 * 12.5= 4687.5

When I got to windows it CPU-Z read it as 4.1Ghz and in 3dmark it could tell that it wasn't working like it should...tooo slow

I had the voltage around 1.75 with the NB pretty high I forget now what I had it set on.

I did have a over heat shut down have way thru the 2ed CPU test.

Could my QX9650 throttle down because of the heat?

only if you have speedstep or C1E state enabled.

hey all, im havin a bit of a dilemma with this board, i received my ram on monday and ive been testing it to make sure its all in good working order and everything appears to be working.

ive ran memtest with no errors on my ram (2x2gb ocz EB 1600) and ive tried 2-3 fresh xp installs but when i get into windows whenever i put any kind of load on the system windows freezes up so i cant do anything but it seems to still be working in the background as the clock on my lcd poster is still counting, i cant figure out what the cause of the problem is and ive come to the conclusion that the board is faulty. anyone have any ideas what could be wrong or should i just go ahead and rma the board?

my board came with bios 0402, ive tried flashing 0507 which didnt make any difference 0508 i cant get working in ezflash or in dos and 0511 hasnt made any difference either. im stumped basically any help would be greatly appreciated.

the hardware im using is asus striker II extreme, Q9450, OCZ 2x2GB EB 1600 7-6-6-24 (bios sets timings at 1333mhz 7-7-7-20 1T), and EVGA 9800GX2.

I use the fusion block on my Asus SIIE and have no leaks. I use http://coolerkit.dk/product.asp?prod...&sub=19&page=1 to fasten the tube instead of the crap provided by Asus (I have heard others warning to use the Asus fittings).

Ok, i did a "quick" test for 15min with no leak.

Now before i dismantle anything, is their any gain from changing the standard thermal paste for some better one (IC diamond) ? If yes, am gonna remove the block and leak test it with the rest of my new gear for 24hrs.

I also read somewhere that removing the block didn't void the warranty...

Yes, but this isn't specific to NVIDIA boards. High speed RAM works best in the "black slots" on all Mobos.
For example, the Corsair Dominators 1800 XMP (Intel) ram at the link below states, "Must use sockets DIMM A2 and B2 (”black sockets”) to achieve this performance"

About the Fusionblock on nb. I connected my usual watersetup with 1/2 tubing. It was a hell to stop the leak, when it stopped I leaktested for 24 hours straight, no leak. I started up a new 8800GT and tested some. Went to work and when I got home=dead GT. The leak had started again. I meen, why Asus even bather put this junk on their mobos. Can't be so hard to make a decent waterblock with 1/2 barbs can it? And from what I've seen it's many that had this leakageblocks.

Where did yours leak from? I found that mine leaked from the hoses, the stupid hose clamps they gave me just pinched the tubing and caused it to leak. I dont seem to have a leak from the block. But yeah I agree... why give out this garbage on their flagship board....

Use tie-wraps on the fittings and converter !
Had leaks too when using the iron hose clamp asus sends with the board
I definatly vote for 1/2" barbs, you can use your 1/2" and if you use 3/8"or smaller you wont loose flowspeed.
The fusionblock is a bottleneck in my 1/2" setup.

First thing what i do when i open the box is remount the heatsink and use a good paste like artic ceramique.
Never thrust that isolating plastic Asus/Nvidia put on the chips !

What about for my lowly 1600 sticks? Black slots still better? They're 2x2.

i'm running the stock bios 0402

got some problems with the vcore

    which one is real?
bios settings 1,5v ...on bios voltages monitor 1,55...asus gear 1,55...

my q6600 has been running for months and months at 1,5v real

but if check cpuz it says 1,47 and yes..not even 5mins prime stable

should i trust cpuz? so i'm going to increase the vcore upto...1,53 into the bios to get real 1,5v..atleast on cpuz

I wonder how feasable it would be to just replace the block itself. I really like the Heatpipes and general design I just want my 1/2 Barbs. Is the block really held in by those two screws? If so I bet I could have a block with 1/2 barbs fabbed up to bolt right on there even using the existing screw holes.

I have been thinking this myself.. I get my board today and will check it out closer.. I may cut off the barb heads and bore out a 1/2 fittings to fit in there..
