DFI Europe Support (trought retailers) = RMA / Warranty is good (just because of laws for warranty and/or rma, and well warranty guarantees to get new board if there is no visible prof of self destroying it).
DFI Northern America = RMA Sucks (they many times make some excuse to not send new mobo).
Thats just based on my experience.

tiro ur in australia , so am i.
i had a similiar problem with my asus maximus form. i sent it in for r.m mnths later they wouldnt reply etc etc . i ended up contacting the accc they put my case onto some other division consumer goods etc cant remember. but they told me its not the responsiblity of the manufacturer, its the responsibility of the retailer.
so they told me to get on to my retailer. ofcourse my retailer said it was upto asus and had nothing to do with them and hung up.
so.......... the accc contacted them and forced them to give me credit. and they did!!!!! i know have the full amount paid back to me via credit at there store.
i suggest u do the same. these manufacturers know its the retailers responsibility so theres not much support from there end.

yep , its true. look i know a few people that work for some big pc suppliers here, and the stuff they tell is unbelievable. its truly shocking staff. they tell people there hardware is damaged and cant be sent in for r.m then they repack and resell it .theres lots of universal tricks they use. alot of people think there getting new hardware ,but alot of the time its not new at all.
but like the accc told me , the law is on our side, they have to honour the warranty passed on by the manufacturer. so the retailer by law has to refund ur money.
threaten legal action with ur retailer then see how they respond, if there still arrogant then contact the acccc. or small claims.

I always found DFI very tempremental... I had a NF2 Lanparty and a NF4 Lanparty. Both great overclockers and I loved them :P But they were so frustrating, they would randomnly break / not boot and take hours of poking and clearing this bios to get them to boot again.... The NF2 board just stopped working and neve booted again, after a 3 month RMA it has been working great ever since :/
Really don't want the hassle of owning a DFI board for my next build....
tiro, did you investigate the possibillity of it being a bad psu or perhalps the case making contact with the board and shorting it? After you've killed your 2nd of anything, generally I drop it into a totally different environment and see if it works any better.
and yeah, 680i is a terribad chipset..
on that note i just got my EVGA 680i board back, anyone want it?

i am owning a dfi board that was discontinued about 5months after release.
some would say itīs the most crappy board ever made by dfi...
but hey
i love that little thing. itīs going strong for about 2yrs now. 66% overclock and 0.2V overvolt on the cpu for over one year without any problem.
this dfi board actually made me learn things about hardware that i would have never thought of.
dfi boards are picky. if u want some plug and play joe sixpack action, go buy an apple.
ohh.. and tiro_uspsss... how come ur telling us ur venus was doa? on the dfi support forum u even got windows installed on that board?

a million different things in only 24hrs?
u wanna know how long it took me to realize that corsair ddr500 ram with hynix chips on them didnīt work well on my board? corsair tech support made me run memtest more than 3times. so 24hrs is definetly not enough.
it was two months till i finally sent them back to the store.
uīve got to be a rocket scientist or something when u can troubleshoot a board in 24hrs and come to the conclusion that itīs the board thatīs faulty and not one of the trillion bios options that u can all set manually.

Tiro:
Your not in my support jurisdiction but I have to say this is starting to wear a bit thin mate. Fine you've expressed the full horror of your situation for the world to see. Feel better? I don't know the exact ins and outs of your case as the boards in question were never in front of me, but I can say this.
DFI has 3 main areas. North America, Europe, and Asia. Australia falls under Asia. This means that any RMA submitted to a dealer in Australia must make it's way back to Taiwan for actual repair. It is therefore entirely logical that the process will be extended. I can gaurantee you that any dealer/distributor in Australia will not be submitting boards one at a time to our HQ in TW for service. They will save a number of them up and submit them in mass. The freight costs associated with sending boards one at a time would be absurd.
You rant on about the length of time it took and how this whole business is crooked and out to nail the little guy to the wall. This line of thinking does not take any of the realities of this business into consideration. I'm sure your first thought at reading this what does all this have to do with me? I'm a consumer and I have my rights. (Don't bother quoting Aussie consumer law to me as all civilized countries have more or less the same regulations). Those consumer rights do not allow for individuals to dictate terms as they see fit. Any rational democracy has checks and balances built into those laws. I'm sure Australia is no exception.
I've dealt with these sorts of situations 100 of times and while I'm sure your outrage feels real, I am certain we are only getting half the story here. So go right ahead and continue your crusade, I'm sure some disgruntled types will join you, but don't think that for even one second that you will turn the world against DFI. Individuals make their own choices, and forum communities have long since evolved from a bunch of scared rabbits that will jump when someone says company X is the devil incarnate.
My advise to you is just leave it and move on mate. Judging by the majority of reactions here I don't think your making much headway anyways. Your choice.
-DFI Support Europe
to sum it all up. your experience is hardly significant to make a bold statement "dfi sucks" Good, more boards for us. DFI has the best engineers out of any other manufacturer.
And the DFI expert boards were great boards. If you had problems, it means you didn't know how to use it right.

dont intend to, cause I happen to be NOT dillusional - so thanks for insulting my intelligence, & showing us how wonderful u DFI folk really are
I have no problem with ppl continuing to love DFI - everyone is free to their own opinion.
& I have moved on - hence why there was such a delay between OP & todays posts - I have moved on to good stable Asus, MSI & Abit mobos
u have quite a nerve coming out like this & talking down on a customer.. poor showing on u & ur companies behalf![]()
