I've heard great things about the mars

. Great voltage regulation and quad clocking. Almost as good a clocker as the DFI P45 board and way less finicky. Also, Sierra if I had to guess I would guess that x48 wont be much more than 790i because with 780 still being relatively new I expect nvidia to market 790 as to the same segment as the ultra and keep 780i around as a slightly cheaper option. Plus, X48 is just a binned X38 so it doesn't cost much more to manufacture but it remains to be seen how Intel translates that into price

Some of us do have to think of the power bill. I have some P4's turned off because they use too much electricity for too little output. I'm currently running only quads.

It's not like I couldn't pay the bill, but when I saw the last one with all the old clunkers running, I decided it was time to retire the old stuff. Just not enough output to justify the energy (as I could estimate from the HEAT they were putting into the one room !) I measured a few systems with my Kill-A-Watt and noted that it costs about $2/month less to run an older system than a quad, but the quad puts out 2-3 times the points per dollar !

I have a fan/heatsink, so I just need the chip

I'm already over budget, because buy.com went up on their ip35-e by 20% in 2 days, even though they said that the price was good well into next week

as far as that goes, I can give you a list of the other stuff I need

I would surf the FS threads, but it's so hard looking for what you specifically need in there.

no, I haven't purchased it yet, but I can't really count MIRs
While we can still use them, I have what I can spend now, and that's what I have to use
I'll probably just sit on it, and wait for the one or more of the components to go back down so I'm back in budget.

edit: OR, I could 'sell' him two of my ballistix sticks for what I paid after MIR. I'd have to look and see if that would work....
edit2: nope.....grrrr

edit3: AH HA, since it doesn't look like I'm saving any money by stacking shipping right now from newegg, I'm going to let him use 2 of my ballistix sticks until the MIRs return, then buy him some ram

I never thought that I would say this but if people do not want to share in the work maybe they should be put on some kind of "Inactive Color Status"?

We ARE a team and that should mean helping even if it is one work unit per day. Just my thoughts.

I had been wondering if you went all out for air.. or if there was a bang for the buck/mass alternative that was a better idea.
Its hard to look seriously at other sinks after handling a TRUE though... I know I am addicted!

Ditto here. I have at least 9 of them. I did try my first Tuniq Tower 120 on my last build. It's ok, but I like the TRUE better.

I've been stuck on the Zalman 9700s for my aircooled machines. How does this compare to that?
